Ofrenda (ritual offering) → Ofrenda – I attempted to create this page with an italicized title, but did not succeed. The current article on "Ofrenda" is a redirect to an album by a Mexican artist (a redirect I created by moving the page). I was attempting to clear space for this article on the altar for the Dia de los Muertos, but it doesn't look like I can do this without assistance. KDS4444^Talk 14:19, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Always one person?[edit]

The article suggests that these are usually for one person. Using movies as a guide is not the safest way to go but am wondering, in Coco the Ofrenda is for the whole family. Is this common? Any cites? is it a regional thing? ++Lar: t/c 04:54, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Even just looking at the citations already present in the article, the first two state that there are usually multiple people commemorated, and the third doesn't specify that it should only be one individual. As far as I understand, there are no particular rules, but different offerings are left for different people, so there is no reason the article should be written as if only one person is being commemorated. Alternatively, some people may explicitly commemorate just the most recent dead, but the bloodline is implied. Wasechun tashunka^HOWL_TRACK 19:21, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move: Ofrenda → Altar de muertos[edit]

The title of this article is really poorly chosen. That's why I ask that it be changed. In Spanish, "ofrenda" means offering in general. Not even in Mexico, by speaking only of "ofrenda", it does not imply that it refers to the offering of an "altar de muertos". There are many types of ofrendas or offerings, inside and outside of Mexico, in Spanish-speaking countries and throughout the world, there are ofrendas or offerings in Christianity, in Islam, in Buddhism and in many other religious traditions that involve ofrendas. – El Mono 🐒 (es.wiki account) 16:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
