incomplete sentence[edit]

It was the last time Wise shot black and white film in the aspect ratio, which.... Ok, which aspect ratio, pray tell? 72.229.55.245 (talk) 20:02, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

aspect ratio[edit]

Time to clear up this misinterpretation. This is a sentence from the AFI and by "standard ratio" they meant the 1959 standard ratio which was 1.85 not 1.33. No theaters in the US, save for one or two art houses, could project 1.33 in 1959. This film was never shown in Academy ratio anywhere and it was framed for and projected in 1.85, which is evident in every single shot in the film. After this film, Wise shot two black-and-white films, both in the scope aspect ratio - Two for the Seesaw and The Haunting.

This may be true, but there's no citation and there's no way that this paragraph, as written, meets the Wiki style standards regarding tone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.9.46.137 (talk) 14:55, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
