Best Mom Ever?

Strait of Magellan

The article about the Strait of Magellan says it is discovered on November 1!--213.145.115.162 (talk) 12:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

The article actually says he entered the strait on November 1. This section of the Ferdinand Magellan article says he reached Cape Virgenes, which is at the entrance to the strait, on October 21. That section also doesn't say that he entered the strait on November 1, only that he was traveling through it on that day. The Encyclopædia Britannica article here states that he entered the strait on the same day he found it (Oct 21), so I get the feeling the Strait of Magellan may be wrong about the fact he entered on Nov 1. I'll see if I can do a little research and figure out what is going on, but it seems the entry on this page is correct, although perhaps a slight rewording would clarify things. 1975 World Series

I realize the Fisk home run may have been exciting and it may very well have been an exciting game. Sporting events, including World Series games, need to be more than "great" to be notable. If it was some sort of record setter like Don Larsen's perfect game, or culturally significant like the Black Sox Scandal, one could make a case for notability. This game is neither. Just another brief moment of jubilation for Red Sox fans before having their hopes once again dashed against the rocks. I think it should be removed. Winston365 (talk) 01:15, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Marty McFly

Alright, I realise it's a little off the beaten path, but is anyone in favour of commemorating the arrival of Marty McFly in the future? I think it'd be a little tongue-in-cheek. Thoughts? Not notable enough? Yeah, I realise it's goofy. LHefferman (talk) 16:42, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Back to the Future Day was a thing on 21 October 2015. This is not just "fiction" as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Days of the year. It is something people did on that date. It happened, and it is more related to 21 October then a person who happens to die on the day. As per the guidelines Wikipedia:Days of the year I believe it will stand the test of time, and still be noteworthy in 10 years time. Imho this should be mentioned in the article. I see alot of reverting in the article, but no discussion here. I will wait a week before making a change. However, if there is no objection here, supported by arguments, then it should be clear to place this. -- Taketa (talk) 11:15, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

I think your reasoning makes sense. as far as I have seen, part of the problem so far has been that some IP editors have tried to add a simple line that "Marty McFly arrived from the past today", which of course never happened. But if an entry is worded such that it points to Back to the Future Day, which describes events that actually did happen that day, then I would not oppose it being added.
