Suggest name change and a couple of deletions[edit]

I'd like to suggest changing the name of the article to Oceanic Worldwide which I understand is the actual name of the company. I'd also like to suggest removing the reference to http://www.buyoceanic.com.au/productdetails-dealer-OC153-toplvl-4-catid-278-prodid-4276.aspx - I'd also like to suggest removing the External Links section as it only serves to duplicate a link already in the references section.

The reason I propose this is to hopefully make the article somewhat less "advertisy" while still maintain the encylopedic bits of the article and the 3rd party references that exist. Jasynnash2 (talk) 13:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I already put a decent 3rd party ref for the datamask HUD (from an article in dive magazine UK [1]) which dealt with this being the first HUD mask for civilian market. The link to [2] is very 'advertisy', i.e. it's a link to a product in a shop which you can add to your cart and buy!! Merger with Aeris[edit]

Oceanic and Aeris are merging, there is no page for Aeris, though I was thinking of creating one as a link from the Dive computers page. http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/us/news/oceanic-aeris-merger/

Dive Computers[edit]

I suggest we add dive computers to the list of products, and list the available computers from the manufacturer. (And possibly previous models as well?) @Zevon7: For an article to exist on Wikipedia, it must pass the general notability guidelines. If a particular PDC has gathered "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject", then it can have an article, but it mustn't be promotional, so beware of taking info from the manufacturer's website, unless it's purely factual. Why not try making an article in your sandbox? Just click on that red link and start typing (but don't forget to add your sources)! --RexxS (talk) 19:56, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for some articles discussing or reviewing specific models. I did add a simple list of current models, and tried to copy the format that was on Suunto's page for their devices. (I think that page could use more detail as well). I also suggested on the main dive computer page that we may want a table of computers with relevant information. I was disappointed on the lack of info available on the various dive computers. (I would hope to find a decent impartial listing of factual information which I could use to compare devices. It seems that many consumer products do have wikipedia pages, so there is a precedent to having that sort of information available.) Zevon7 (talk) 23:13, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
