Split proposed[edit]

The section about the "original" North York Rangers is about a team founded as Woodbridge Rangers and eventually becoming defunct as the North York Red Wings. If the team is completely unconnected to the North York Rangers' franchise it should be a separate article, most likely using the name it held when it was folded. The history section of this article was mostly about the Richmond Hill Rams, which share some history with the North York Rangers but currently exist as separate teams. I changed the history section to be more in line with how the team describes it at http://northyorkrangers.pointstreaksites.com/view/northyorkrangers/organization-7/tradition-3 , including both the Woodbridge Rangers and Richmond Hill Rams aspects. The return of the Richmond Hill Rams did not seem relevant to this article, so I removed that section. Please feel free to revise or amend. Spiffulent (talk) 04:07, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Both teams where predominantly known as the North York Rangers. The most logical split would be moving the oldest version of the team to North York Rangers (1967–1984), and keep the current team here at North York Rangers. Flibirigit (talk) 08:21, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I would just be bold and go ahead and do it. I doubt anyone objects. It just likely wasn't noticed by anyone until splits started showing up on the article alerts page. -DJSasso (talk) 11:09, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would think this is the most logical move as well. We've done the same for other teams as well. Kaiser matias (talk) 14:58, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Djsasso: do you have a script to correct the hyphens to the proper dashes before I split the article? Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 10:36, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No I usually just copy the source to notepad and do a find and replace and then copy the source back in. -DJSasso (talk) 13:13, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have done the split. Eventually some of "what links here" to the North York Rangers will need to migrate to North York Rangers (1967–1984). Any volunteers? Flibirigit (talk) 05:27, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
