I have tried to change information on the closing of NIKK as a Nordic institution, but my change has been revered three times without any motivation by "Mean as mustard". It was stated that the reason was the TV documentary made by Harald Eia. But the researchers interviewed in the TV documentary was Norwegian researchers and they were not employed by NIKK. The reason for closing NIKK was to save administrative costs. The Nordic ministers of gender equality have also decided to reopen NIKK as a co-operative body. Thus, the work will be continued in another form.

We have sources from Svenska Dagbladet and Aftenposten that the documentary controversy had a big role in the discussion that resulted in the shut-down. Also two references to the Parliament of Norway, where the documentary was also discussed as a part of the decision to stop the funding. This organization was a political campaign masquerading behind pseudoscience, which was disbanded after being debunked. The article does a very poor job of of explaining what it was, and why it no longer exists. 50.131.153.242 (talk) 09:03, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The other articles that are used as references to the closing of NIKK refer to the Norwegian program on gender research, financed by the Norwegian Research Council until 2011. Even so, the article I have shared above includes direct questions to Marit Aure, from the Association for Gender Research in Norway, and Anders Hanneborg, from the Norwegian Research Council, on the influence the TV-program "Hjernevask" might have had in removing financing from the Norwegian gender studies program in 2011. Marit Aure speculates that the attention that the program provided to the gender studies community in Norway might have created the impression that the field was much better established, something that could have motivated the Norwegian Research Council's decision to decentralize gender research. Anders Hanneborg, on the other side, directly denies that the television program "Hjernevask" ever was a part of their discussions in the Research Council, which led to their decision to decentralize gender studies in Norway.

The way this is written in the article is if anything misleading. Firstly, because the link between NIKK and the Norwegian gender studies program is not explained. Secondly, because the influence of "Hjernevask" on a decision to restructure gender research in Norway is not well documented, other than through speculations in a newspaper article.

This is not a reason for blanket deletion. Please improve the section if you think it's inaccurate. I restored the text you deleted, but put a warning sign so readers can see it's disputed. As you admit yourself ("includes direct questions to Marit Aure") the sources have something to say about the issue. --rtc (talk) 15:14, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Harald Eia as documentarian[edit]

I've edited the description of Harald Eia as a 'comedian' to 'comedian and documentarian'. Describing him as comedian only implies that Hjernevask was a work of comedy, whereas it was clearly documentary in nature.
