OS vs (Windows Phone) UI[edit]

Seem my revert [1]. Since based on Android I assume it means also the Linux kernel. Have not seen it stated (by Nokia) explicitly. I wander if Android/Dalvik would even work without the Linux kernel. That is if it could be changed by now for let's say FreeBSD, let alone the Windows kernel. I'm guessing CyanogenMod would have nothing to do with it with a proprietary Windows kernel.

However, an OS in the strict sense is the kernel, for Android the Linux kernel (note that it excludes Android as an OS). For OS in a broad "distro-like" sense (where do you draw the line?), it includes the UI. Android provides the UI. Here I'm assuming Android forked code, not any Microsoft (Windows) code. For graphics related UI, some elements might be Windows Phone design-derived. I haven't even seen the phone itself. comp.arch (talk) 14:04, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OneDrive was recently integrated into the operating system ROM ([2]). Very likely that more Microsoft integration will follow soon. --RaviC (talk) 18:46, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
