I have heard a rumour about HR18DE (126hp), HR20DE (180hp, with CVT) and HR20VE (230hp). But it´s only a rumour. ;)

Wonder if they'd drop into the 160SR without many problems ;) James MSC 11:12, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2 engine designs[edit]

Please note there are 2 basic engine designs (small = max. 72.2 mm cyl. bore vs. bigger = typically 78 mm cyl. bore) named HR series. These include a 2010 1.2L (3 cyl. 78x83.6mm) easily to be confused with the 2012 1.2L (4 cyl. 72.2x73.1mm) and the 2010 1.0L HR10 (78mm cyl bore x 69,7mm) easily to be confused with the 2019 1.0L (72.2 x 83.1). Wikipedia presents 2 solutions both without any source: The 2 later engines involved get an "overflow" on their name plates (HRA0 re. HRA2 instead of HR10 re. HR12) or the smaller (=later) design has been (re-)named Nissan BR engine. I'd appreciate you share your information, please send me a note to my talk page. --Wolle1303 (talk) 15:48, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wolle1303: Does Nissan or Renault have anything to say about this? It is mad confusing and I can't find any decent sources explaining what is happening and why. Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  19:17, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr.choppers:I could not either. And you are right it is mad confusing because Renault has designations different from Nissan. In Europe and Germany in particular Nissan is a minor player thus they and their products receive little attention.
It appears Renault used the bigger HR in South America only since there is a Nissan factory for engines, while they only utilized the smaller design in Europe (the 1.6 litre is a MR design). But: the bigger 78mm engines might have found its way to Europe now in the shape of the 75.5mm 1.2l engine for the Austral and Espace. Wolle1303 (talk) 00:28, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
