Expert Attention[edit]

I put in for an expert request, because I know very little about the history of New Zealand, especially the part of NZ history about the Maori.

Cheers

Very good. And what is the specific concern? Schwede66 20:19, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Names[edit]

The terms "New Zealand Pioneer Battalion, New Zealand Maori Pioneer Battalion, Native Contingent and Pioneer Battalion" are used interchangeably. What was the official title, and when was it changed. I suspect that the title was never officially New Zealand Maori Pioneer Battalion.Royalcourtier (talk) 04:56, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Maori members[edit]

The article implies that the unit was a Maori one, and uses the style Native Contingent interchangeably with Pioneer Battalion. However the Pioneer Battalion was created as a "mix of personnel and included the survivors of the Otago Mounted Rifles, men of the Māori contingents as well as Pacific Islanders", as noted in the article on Lt Col King. It was not a unit of Maori, though they came to dominate later on.Royalcourtier (talk) 05:00, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
