Comment on "External links modified (February 2018)", submitted April 2018[edit]

Hi, InternetArchiveBot! The last paragraph of your change (or it may be the context for your change https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/826096933), about enlightenment for Baba's disciples is completely wrong, as far as I know, from being a Baba follower for almost 50 years. The link given to the page in Lord Meher may be accurate for the edition cited (which I do not have), but that page in the hardcover and online editions that I have access to does not correspond with anything relevant to this item.

Anyway, if you look here (http://www.lordmeher.org/rev/index.jsp?pageBase=page.jsp&nextPage=3027) and at the following pages, you will see the actual events that culminated the New Life. None of Baba's close ones ever claimed to be spiritually advanced. In fact, such a claim would be completely contrary to the experience and aims of the New Life.

Baba also never said that Man-O-Nash resulted in the Nirvana state. The term 'Nirvana' can be interpreted variously, so there may be some basis for comparison, but I don't believe Baba ever used it to describe his spiritual status. In God Speaks, Baba describes nirvana in His own terms at the end of Part 8, The Evolution of Consciousness chapter.

Hi Deardavid17. The InternetArchiveBot is just an automatic process that does not acknowledge your comments. From what I see, all it did was substitute a dead URL with its archived version. It did no changes to the content of the article. If you disagree with the content of the Hyderabad page, it is outside the scope of Wikipedia to amend it. However I do not find that this reference supports any of the text given in this paragraph, so I will simply remove it. If you have any further issues with the content oif the article, please comment below, and don;t forget to sign using 4 tildes ~~~~. Thank you. Hoverfish Talk 21:45, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit of New Life (Meher Baba) article[edit]

Thank you, Hoverfish, for responding to my comment. I was actually about to change it to refer directly to the paragraph at issue in the article:

Meher Baba conveyed that the spiritually significant work was done on behalf of the spiritual welfare of all humanity. Man-O-Nash is simply Nirvana by another name, and the core group that passed through this stage with Baba was Enlightened in the Buddhist sense, as indicated by Meher Baba himself.[15]

The reference [15] leads here:

Kalchuri, Bhau, Lord Meher, The Biography of the Avatar of the Age Meher Baba, Volume Five, 1948-1953 (Hyderabad, India: Meher Mownavani Publications, 2005), p. 2,416+.

I can see now that the InternetArchiveBot was just checking URLs, and that the altered URL apparently had nothing to do with the passage at issue. It also looks like you have removed the questionable two sentences, along with the citation, which I appreciate. I would suggest just one more minor change, to make in the remaining sentence, in order to clarify and fulfill the intention of the original poster of the passage in question:

Meher Baba conveyed that the spiritually significant work was done on behalf of the spiritual welfare of all humanity. => Meher Baba conveyed that the spiritually significant work of Man-O-Nash was done on behalf of the spiritual welfare of all humanity.

This is probably the page in Lord Meher that gave rise to the disputed paragraph: http://www.lordmeher.org/rev/index.jsp?pageBase=page.jsp&nextPage=3030. Looking here, one can understand how the original poster may have misinterpreted the experience and status of Baba's companions.

Here is the page where the beautiful and profound Manonash statement is given (starting at the bottom of the page): http://www.lordmeher.org/rev/index.jsp?pageBase=page.jsp&nextPage=3028. I think it would be helpful to cite this statement in the section about Manonash.
