Is calling it "a Sephardic synagogue" in the lede correct?[edit]
The word Sephardic literally means "Spanish", and the article Sephardi Jews agrees that the word traditionally refers to those from the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal). It later came to mean Jews of the Mediterranean region (southern Europe and north Africa), excluding the Levant (Israel and Lebanon). Calling a Persian synagogue "Sephardic" is stretching it a little. I realize the word is now often used to mean any non-Ashkenazi Jews, but that's not the definition.47.139.40.113 (talk) 22:39, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, per their own website: "Nessah Synagogue... upholds the traditions and customs of Iranian Jews according to Orthodox, Sephardic Halacha." [1]
