This needs a modern update[edit]

Murray Pittock and others write of current neo-Jacobitism in modern Scottish nationalism, with tartanry and other symbology that is "both irritating kitsch and a language of identity". Pittock has a whole article on it (and there are others):

  • Pittock, Murray G. H (2002). "The Jacobite Cult". In Cowan, Edward J.; Finlay, Richard J. (eds.). Scottish History: The Power of the Past. Edinburgh University Press. pp. 191–208.
