The Nelson Mandela ChampionshipNelson Mandela ChampionshipWP:THE The image on top of their official site do not have the definititive article "the", and headlines in the official page they use Nelson Mandela Championship without the definitive article "the", for example "Young stars given chance to shine in Nelson Mandela Championship". Tournament Name[edit]

As I wrote in summary, the Tournament Infromation page in the official website states Tournament Name is Nelson Mandela Championship, without adding something like "presented by ..."

However, Tewapack Undid that edit stating "not according to ET site."

Though in some place in the European Tour's official site they write the tournament name with "presented by ...", it is not clear whether that is a part of the name or just explanatory advertizement telling the presenting partner. In their article http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2013/tournamentid=2012094/news/newsid=175119.html titled 'ISPS named presenting partner of the Nelson Mandela Championship', they start with "ISPS (International Sports Promotion Society) will become Presenting Partner of the Nelson Mandela Championship", which strongly supports that "Nelson Mandela Championship" in itself is the name of the tournament.

Do you have any clear evidence that the tournament name should be with "presented by ..."? --T6n8 (talk) 12:29, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In winner's tables like this the full name with presenting sponsors is used. For the article title and in prose the presenting sponsor is dropped. This is the standard way that golf tournaments are referred to on Wikipedia, see for example The Tour Championship. The full name is given in both of the external links and the winners' pages Van Der Walt and Jamieson. Tewapack (talk) 13:25, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
