What's the difference?[edit]

A few days ago I wrote a new article about another podcast. I wrote that article in a similar format to the MuggleCast one, yet somehow mine was picked for speedy deletion. What did I do different?--Fez2005 (sorry I forgot to sign my name originally!)

It may be that your podcast is not as notable as MuggleCast, or that if it is, you did not prove its notability within the article. What was the podcast? You may want to merge it into the main topic, unless it's a fan podcast, in which case it probably doesn't belong on Wikipedia. MuggleCast is special because MuggleNet is an enormous web site which has been acknowledged by J. K. Rowling herself. If your podcast is, for example, a discussion of the books Eragon, it probably doesn't belong on Wikipedia unless Christopher Paolini has said "I listen to X podcast all the time" or "I go to X website [which produces X podcast] a lot." You might want to read WP:NN. Thanks! --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 06:09, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Mine's not a fan podcast; it's not related to Harry Potter at all. It's a Jewish podcast, extremely popular at the moment in terms of its demographic. I thought it was notable because it was the first podcast for Jewish teens. The only reason I mention it under the MuggleCast discussion is because I modeled it after MuggleCast's wikipedia article. I could send you the code for the article which I saved before it was deleted. --Fez2005 06:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It may that you didn't prove the notability of the podcast. Try to assess as neutrally as possible: would you say your podcast deserve an encyclopedia entry? Is it known? Check out also WP:CSD, especially A7. In addition, if you do recreate the article with a statement of its notability, make sure to watch it not long after its creation to make sure that it isn't deleted under G4 (another criterion on that page). I would be bold and recreate the page, making sure that its notability is testified to; that way, editors will really have the chance to see if it deserves an entry or not. If the page is tagged for speedy deletion, insert the template {{hangon}} onto the page to present your argument. Good luck! --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 18:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for you support. I ended up putting the article on a different wiki. --Fez2005 00:49, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"potterverse"[edit]

Is there a reference for this term? I've never heard it before, myself, and I'm an avid HP fan. Yavoh 03:20, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MuggleNet uses it. Though it may be just one of those words that was coined and sounds official… forget what you call those things. :-) --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 03:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Current Events[edit]

Should the ban on selling t-shirts and merchandise, and Andrew Sims's Wizard Rock band single about MuggleCast be added?

Yes, definitely. There are many recent events in MuggleCast history that ought to be included. Yavoh 02:46, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

since their host site, mugglenet, has been hacked and shut down on jan 3rd 08, should it be noted that mugglecast was also offline for mugglenet to try and get back online? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.46.7.18 (talk) 05:11, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Thompson/Mallory[edit]

Various users keep changing host Laura Thompson's last name to Mallory. Laura Mallory, who is discussed on several episodes, is a mother who is suing the local school district to remove the Harry Potter books from shelves. Laura Thompson is the host of the show, verifiable at http://www.mugglenet.com/mugglecast/index.php?page=about.php. I'm fixing her name again, but if anyone disagrees, please discuss it here first. MuggleCast Slogan > No Theory Is Safe... OR The Latest In Harry Potter News?[edit]

I am hoping someone can clear up the slogan of MuggleCast is it No Theory Is Safe... or The Latest In Harry Potter News, as it is required for a caption in the infobox, I have created it as No Theory Is Safe... as I think The Latest In Harry Potter News, is a general comment.. - Hpfan9374 00:24, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if they have an official slogan. I've seen the No Theory Is Safe motto on merchandise and logos in particular, whereas the hosts seem to use The Latest In Harry Potter News more often in the show's introduction. Yavoh 18:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone should contact them and ask. --AnneliseW 14:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think that "The Latest in Harry Potter News" is more of a sub title, whereas "No theory is safe" is their official motto. --AnneliseW 18:02, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guest Hosts Section[edit]

I noticed user E Brown 3 added a guest hosts section. This is in need of more information, such as more notable hosts, or perhaps a list of episodes on which there were guests. Yavoh 15:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC) Yeah, i wasn't done editing it yet. I was going to go back and make it better like what yavoh said. -E Brown 3[reply]

What about Mikey B.? Wasn't it stated that he will be a regular on MuggleCast? Should this be added?--[[User:Yossi842| Yossi842]] 22:39, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to add Mikey but decided I should check here. I think he should be added to the list of hosts. It was stated he would most likely be a regular on the show from now on.
Nickm717 01:50, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If someone can just get a refrence from a transcript or an exact qoute that would be perfectly acceptable to just add him for guest hosts for the time being- and if another refrence is made- than we will add him to the reg. hosts section. --[[User:Yossi842| Yossi842]] 21:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added Alex Carpenter as a guest host. --AnneliseW 14:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also added Emily Ogle. What about that Millionaire Playboy guy? What was his name? Jeff? --AnneliseW 18:03, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also added:

  1. Ciaran Loughlin,
  2. Aris Janetakos
  3. Emerson Spartz
  4. Dylan Spartz
  5. Matthew Vines
  6. Rachael Godoy
  7. Georgia Mountford
  8. Cristin Atkins

I don't really know if we should add that Jeff guy. As far as I know, he is just in interviews... --AnneliseW 21:13, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New art[edit]

Someone should probably change the album art in the infobox to the new version. Insanity Incarnate 02:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pickle Pack[edit]

I feel that it should be mentioned that they have a new website/group/fan club at: [1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.209.238.165 (talk) 22:38, 3 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Weasel Words and Peacock Terms[edit]

Hey, everyone! I would REALLY appreciate it if people would stop using weasel words (Eric is known by many to be talkative) and Peacock Terms (Jaime is so awesome!).

Please back up your statements with a source, and avoid praising MuggleCast unnecessarily. I am working on fixing them now, so you might notice that some of the sections get smaller (Especially the 'Hosts' section) but I will find some way to make things clearer without using WWs and PTs. Help would be very much appreciated. --AnneliseW 14:32, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew's Wizard Rock[edit]

Wonder if we should make it it's own section, instead of being listed under the segments section. It is kind of big now, and will continue to become larger. --AnneliseW 14:38, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Theme Song.[edit]

Here you have the theme song as being played by Andrew. But in this interview, Andrew states that the theme song was sent in by a fan. Should we change that? Just wondering. --AnneliseW 14:48, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it. If someone disagrees, change it back. --AnneliseW 21:16, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I was reading old transcripts, and found this, (segment is a bit more than halfway down the page) which says Andrew made it on SoundTrack. Leaving it as it is for now. --AnneliseW 00:52, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Podcast Alley[edit]

In this article, it is said that MuggleCast averages a #1 rank on podcast alley. I find this hard to believe. If someone could cite this, that would be great. --AnneliseW 14:51, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Segments[edit]

How would everyone like to organize the segments? Alpabetically? By most frequent apperances in the show? Etc.. --AnneliseW 15:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have merge the above article to this one but it was undone. I have started a discussion on merging at Talk:Jamie Lawrence (MuggleCast). --Tony Sidaway 14:36, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it, merge it. Don't need that article most likely. Judgesurreal777 06:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge, absolutely. No one REALLY needs to know more than the info already on this page. --AnneliseW 01:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments. Since there were no comments (in support or in opposition) on Talk:Jamie Lawrence (MuggleCast), I've gone ahead with the merge. --Tony Sidaway 11:21, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Special Episodes[edit]

Wondering if we should just make a section for special episodes in general, and let it include the 12 hour episode, and the live shows, etc. It seems like there is not enough information about those episodes for them to qualify as their own section. --AnneliseW 01:56, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's a good idea <Karlww (contribs|talk) 18:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where is Ben Schoen?[edit]

He's no longer one the show. ever. why not?
