Desirable info[edit]

The article would be better if we had info on any of these:

  • Architectural style; building layout. Even basic description: It has a minaret XX meters high, a this, a that...
  • Size; seating capacity
  • Artwork, mosaics?
  • Prior use/history of the site.
  • What organization(s) control the space, do different groups share it? Who are the clerics?
  • History (who paid for building, who designed it, Jordanian renovations)

Close-up images of any interesting features. Or with people making use of the mosque? Some ideas, thanks. HG | Talk 02:33, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! I am going to have to dig deep for that, since there not that many sources on the net about the mosque. Architectural style could probably be found though. Thanks for your suggestions and great work on the article! --Al Ameer son (talk) 02:40, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tiny thing[edit]

If the mosque is the only one, among what mosques is it the oldest?!! -- 213.6.9.215 (talk) 09:40, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, good point. What's the history of mosques in Bethlehem?

Tangential thing -- Anyone care to make a more beautiful the Mosques template? Thanks. HG | Talk 15:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously! Its very plain and spacious. And its lists of mosques in each continent is pointless. --Al Ameer son (talk) 16:33, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
this can't be true, the article claims that this is the ONLY mosque in the city and was built in the 1800s... are you kidding me!!! for 1200 years the muslims in the city had no place to pray in?!! like what, they had to go out of town five times a day to pray? That does not make sense and can not be ture. --Maha Odeh (talk) 07:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maha, the 1800s is a very long time ago. While currently the majority of Bethlehem's inhabitants are Muslim, Bethlehem was historically a Christian town, and it is very possible that no Muslims lived in it before the mosque was built. I don't know about it being the ONLY mosque, though. --Fjmustak (talk) 07:28, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Maha is right. Now, since the city has expanded there has been more construction of mosques. However, the Mosque of Omar is the only mosque in Bethlehem's Old City. --Al Ameer son (talk) 17:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
