Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move per request. This could have been listed at WP:RM/TR as an uncontroversial request.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:36, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moral DevelopmentMoral development – The 2nd word here should be in lower case, as per WP:LOWERCASE. Development is not part of a proper name. Indeed, the page as written starts by using lower case: "Moral development focuses on..." (Emphasis added.) The name I am suggesting is now a redirect to the current name, this situation should be reversed. --Andrewaskew (talk) 01:13, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a space for university-style text. Hill Crest's WikiLaser (Boom.) (talk) 12:41, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per MOS:CAPS. Dicklyon (talk) 06:38, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. This is a generic term, not the proper name of anything. This should not be controversial. Also need to fix all the section headers that are using title case. •••Life of Riley (TC) 00:16, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article violates the Wiki rule "neutrality" - very one-sided[edit]

This articles is extremely one-sided. It misses out on many important studies and paradigms, but focusses almost exclusively on the studies following the lead of Eliot Turiel. So, for example, the very important work by Turiel's teacher Lawrence Kohlberg is downplayed, and many other lines of research are not mentioned at all, like that of James Rest, John Snarey and John Gibbs, and especially of almost all non-US scientists who have considerably contributed to this field. If the author(s) do not understand their theories they should at least acknowledge their existence by mentioning them. At least, I think this is what Wikipedia is about. I have been a researcher into the field of moral development for 40 years and think I know the field quite well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.146.251.35 (talk) 23:13, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you are well-versed in these theories, perhaps you are an ideal person to add information about them to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.83.110.76 (talk) 22:04, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed contribution[edit]

I'm going to add a section on Morality and Storytelling specific to Indigenous American Communities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jhuey1 (talkcontribs) 07:42, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a great addition to the article. I think it's important for people to understand that there are different ways of teaching morality, and I would like to know more about other cultures and how they go about teaching morality. Because there is only mention of Indigenous American Communities, it seems a little bit random. I plan on doing more research about these other cultures and adding this information to the article. Eeichmann139 (talk) 21:56, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot that need to be added about different cultures and how they might contribute to ones moral development. That being said, I think it should have its own section. If possible, I think the resources should be looked at and confirmed by multiple people weather or not it is a good source to help keep the view of this Wikipedia page neutral. Also finding more pictures that relate to this topic may be hard but a good idea too. Yellowpotato12333 (talk) 03:21, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to make multiple edits throughout the article to improve grammar and readability. Additionally, I'll address the previously mentioned problem of the randomness of the "Indigenous American Communities" section by adding a section on morality in Western vs. Eastern cultures next to it. I hope that provides a bit more structural context to the sections of the article. Feel free to keep polishing things up and to fix any of my edits if need be!
