Headliners[edit]

RE: Special:Diff/890619667/890624683 Edit may be not necessary, but I consider it to be relevant as it adds new information. Can I get clarification on motive to undo? From edit history, I also seem to be creating work in terms of incorrect date format? I am mostly using automatic tool for links, so what can I do to help avoid post-edit corrections? Thanks Andrewmerck (talk) 13:49, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the "headliners" in the early years are not notable, so why do we need to list them? And who determined the "headliners" anyhow? Were they they biggest names on the festival's bill, the bands who had the most prominent spots on the schedule, or something else? The lists looked like something other than that. A full schedule would be more useful. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:51, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much the biggest names present at that year's festival. I don't know enough to tell if they were/are notable or not. This festival mixes known and local/emerging bands. A full schedule could be TMI since in the latter years they had close to 100 bands per event: 2018 Rockfest Line-up. But I notice Coachella includes a list of headliners but has a separate page for the complete line-ups Coachella Festival line-ups. Adding the headliners to this entry may not be as useful as the full line-up, but it's a start, no? And this page needs work as stated in the template, which is what motivated me to sign up as an editor. I appreciate you fixing the dates BTW, but would like to understand why it was done. Thanks.Andrewmerck (talk) 16:28, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But Coachella is more of a household name. It's telling that the "biggest names" at the festival, particularly in the early years, are not big enough to have articles on Wikipedia. I don't think it's necessary, but if you do, feel free to add it back in with a bit more detail about what constituted a headliner. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:44, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, will do. One thing to consider is that the bands listed may not be household names perhaps in English Wikipedia, but as this festival mixes anglophone and francophone acts (it is in Québec after all)...it may explain the "relative" obscurity of some bands. Not that all of them have entries in French Wikipédia either. Andrewmerck (talk) 17:09, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is not restricted by the language of the sources. If the bands are notable, they should have an article. Many Quebecois bands are sufficiently notable. Category:Musical groups from Quebec exists after all. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:19, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
