Martial artist[edit]

i removed the text "It is worth noting that the monk represents one type of martial artist and is currently the only type of martial artist in Dnd.", as it is neither noteworthy nor true, barring an extremely narrow definition of martial arts. Lucky number 49 17:57, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it's never specified just what kind of martial arts a monk uses. Indeed, it probably incorporates several techniques, like a Bijong stance. --Luigifan 12:12, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ki system, Faiths and Avatars[edit]

Recently, an anonymous editor added the following statement to the article "The Monk was still creatable via "Faiths and Avatars", but no longer used a Ki system.". If it's worth mentioning that the Faiths and Avatars class no longer uses a ki system in the 2nd edition then it's also worth mentioning the editions in which it does use a ki system, and probably worth clarifying what is meant by "a ki system". Additionally, the statement is vague about whether Faiths and Avatars actually has a monk class or merely has custom class rules which could theoretically be used to make a custom class similar to previous editions' monk classes. Could someone with access to the appropriate rulebooks provide some clarification in the article, preferably with citations? -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 08:21, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The third edition monk is based off the scarlet brotherhood monk which was the only true monk of 2nd edition. It is listed in the scarlet brotherhood book.
