Untitled[edit]

Good ranking - certainly stub but not quite top importance. Low quality and high importance make it prime candidate for more work. Merbabu 13:42, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's been a lot added since then, and is certainly at least start class. Rigadoun (talk) 21:20, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dumb question[edit]

Doesn't Bung mean comrade in Javanese? RahadyanS 03:34, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was slang for 'older brother' - kinda of both respectful but familiar. Is there anything in the use of 'Bung Karno' compared to 'Pak Harto'? Merbabu 03:38, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is not Javanese. Bung is originally a Mollucan/East Indonesian Malay dialec for Abang (or diminuitive Bang) in Malay language, meaning older brother. However, since the freedom movement era it has been used as a familiar term of address for a man. In 1930-s, Ducth put in jails Soekarno in Ende, and Hatta, Sjahrir, and other nationalists in Boven Digul and Banda Neira, so that might have caused the popularity of the term. THE DOG AND THE SHADOW

The story happened that a dog had got piece of meat and crying it home in his mouth to eat it in piece. Now on his way home he had to cross a plank lying across a running book. As he crossed he looked down and saw his own shadow reflected in the water beneath. Thinking it was another dog with another piece of meat. He made up his mind to have that also. So, he made a snap at the shadow in the water, but as he opened his mouth the piece of meat fell out, dropped into the water and was never seen any more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.246.108.242 (talk) 23:45, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
