Contradiction[edit]

The articles states that he rules from 129-140. That doesn't really go with him being the son of Vonones II, which died in 51. Even if he was born in 51, he would have lived to be 89 - highly unlikely during that time. Travelbird (talk) 13:40, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would say highly unlikely, perhaps, but not impossible. I did my best to investigate, and I'm not seeing any contradictory statements in any reliable sources about when he was supposedly born; it doesn't appear that we're trying to say the son was born before the father or any other physical impossibility. And while it may be unlikely in general, I would estimate that the likelihood rises considerably for a king in ancient Persia, who would have had close to ideal living conditions for the time and the best medical care available, compared to a peasant or a member of a less-advanced civilization. He was the youngest of five sons, and so could have been born late in Vonones's life, which would (as you point out) make his age at least in the realm of the possible. Without any reliable sources giving his birth year or other hard information showing his father to be someone else or his reign to be wrong, I would say there really isn't a conflict here, just some potentially unlikely circumstances.
