Mining in Thailand[edit]

I just added this article to Category:Mining in Thailand, which contained only Mining companies of Thailand, which in turn contains only Category:Coal companies of Thailand and Banpu. Mining in Thailand redirects to Economy _of_Thailand#Mining_and_minerals, but really should redirect here, once some appropriate info is added.

A blacklisted website (gis mapsofworld com / government / government-agencies / department-of-mineral-resources-thailand html) says

The Department of Mineral Resources]] (DMR) Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand was founded on 1st January, 1891. The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand was established by King Chulalongkorn the Great (King Rama V) under the Royal Department of Mines and Geology. On that days the activities of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand was related to the field of development and exploration of mineral resources in Thailand.

Twentieth century impressions of Siam (1908) has an article by the then Inspector-General of the Royal Department of Mines and Geology John H. Heal, R.S.M. F.G.S., Mines and Mining Administration, which begins on p.182

Royal Survey Work by Director of the Royal Survey Department R. W. Giblin F.R.G.S., which begins on p.131, also figures in the establishment of the department of mines and geology and this ministry. The Royal Survey Department's expertise in printing maps led them to print early banknotes, and the department also figured in the early metrication of Siam. --Pawyilee (talk) 15:59, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
