Speedy Deletion[edit]

I am unsure as to why this page has been recommend for speedy deletion. It is the autobiographical work of a very famous (infamous perhaps) historical figure and certainly notable for inclusion in wikipedia. Just to show the book does exist. Gavin Scott (talk) 02:20, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. When I first came a cross the article it had no references or context. It looks now like it's an important and the start of a good article. Once again, my bad. Wikilost (talk) 02:31, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was my mistake, as another contributor pointed out it is better to start an article with references included and not add them in later! I shall remember to do that next time. Gavin Scott (talk) 02:36, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ISBN[edit]

  1. ISBN-10: 0941693007
  2. ISBN-13: 978-0941693004

These are the two ISBN numbers, do they get included in the article? Gavin Scott (talk) 02:59, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SKEPTICAL[edit]

So, when was "Michael" actually written? Does anyone know? Thanks! GSM — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.76.3.66 (talk) 03:02, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I read the novel and think it is reaching a bit to call it autobiographical. Didn't Goebbels have a malformed leg that would have excluded him from military service? The book is deeply religious, not at all friendly toward Nietzsche (spelling?) but very laudatory of Goethe. translator (talk) 21:24, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its loosely autobiographical, as Fest points out, it was Goebbels' self-image, he was retelling his thoughts and feeling through Michael. However, Perhaps the page should be moved to Michael (Goebbels' Book) or something similar- personally I think it is fine here. Gavin Scott (talk) 21:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Like the article said, it's a semi-autobiographical book. It's a combination of Goebbels own thoughts and the life of his best friend Richard Flisges who had actually fought in the war, and later ended his college studies to work in a mine where he died in an accident.
That's what happens to Michael in the novel. I read both Goebbels biography and the novel which is a combination of Goebbels thoughts and Flisges' deeds. 217.236.241.226 (talk) 12:16, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

page title: autobiography?[edit]

I don't understand why this page is called "Michael (autobiography)" rather than "Michael (novel)". The obvious differences from Goebbels's own life and fact that it's called Michael suggests it is not intended as autobiography. Other semi-autobiographical works, such as Junkie (novel), Queer (novel), Villette (novel), Youth (Tolstoy novel), Sex and the City (novel), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (novel), etc, are classified in the category "novel". Even if Michael is judged of insufficient literary merit to be called a "novel", "autobiography" is equally inaccurate, and it might be referred to as "book". --Maltelauridsbrigge (talk) 13:51, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
