oxyisobutyric?[edit]

What is oxyisobutyric acid (mentioned in the text as its ethyl ester, oxyisobutyric ester)? Is it a typo for 2-hydroxyisobutyric acid or 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid? Albmont (talk) 17:50, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference?[edit]

":MAA occurs naturally in small amounts in the oil of Roman chamomile." If this can be substantiated, a reference is needed.Art4med (talk) 16:47, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IUPAC name, really?[edit]

From this page: http://books.google.ru/books?id=fJr24l5iMrYC&pg=PA206&lpg=PA206&dq=iupac+methacrylic+acid&source=bl&ots=15LxHkG-0m&sig=TKtD3KiP3bTXwALj5M3dzH1FBXo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=dIAUU-GxGYbZ4QSIrICwBQ&sqi=2&ved=0CE0Q6AEwBw#v=onepage&q=iupac%20methacrylic%20acid&f=false – the name of "2-methylpropenoic acid" looks systematic at best. (Why the redundant methyl location number? you can't have a 3-methylpropanoic acid, it becomes butyric). What is this treachery? 80.250.81.35 (talk) 13:27, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uses[edit]

I will obviously lose the argument but still feel it needs a uses section. Oh well hey ho. Otherwise there just is no context

There is a lot of talk about methyl methacrylate - surely this should be edited down as the topic is about methacrylic acid.
