Lame tradition

There Is no way Mered is Caleb as both are dealt with in the same Chronicles genealogy.

That genealogy is hard to read, so I came here hoping Wikipedia could give me info to help clarify it, instead I just get useless rambling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.92.234.42 (talk) 20:09, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

+1 for this one. To get the full context what causes the confusion we need these lines: "And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh; Iru, Elah, and Naam: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz." - this is all fine, we have the place in genealogy from other books for Caleb, son of Jephunnen. "And the sons of Jehaleleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel. " - confusion arise as Jehaleleel is not identifiable. "And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa." - Again this Ezra is unconnected to the previous line. "And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took." - Here it seems this is some closing line of the section, but we can not connect Mered to the rest of the genealogy, the pharao's daughter is obvious BS, and Mered is either his own grandfather, or there are TWO Mereds, OR a line is missing from the text, which'd list the children of Mered and Bithiah.

And the next line obviously can not help, as it continues as: "And the sons of his wife Hodiah the sister of Naham..."
