Khatri

I've just removed some stuff here. The Shodganga archive has recently been discussed at WT:INB and the highly variable nature of the papers it hosts was raised. Furthermore, p 4 of that particular source contradicts p 30, which goes to prove the point. And, finally, we can't say a name "belongs" to something. Yes, it may have its origins in a place, occupation etc but no place, occupation etc "owns" a name. Classic examples in proof of this include Tony Meo, who is most definitely not connected to Meo, and Helen Reddy, who is certainly not a Reddy. - Sitush (talk) 06:14, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Tatichat keeps adding poor sources to this article, trying to assert that the name "belongs" to the Khatri clan. It is far from being the entire picture, I feel. For example, although I can only see snippet view, Singh, Kumar Suresh, ed. (1998). India's Communities. People of India. Vol. 5. Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0-19563-354-2. {{cite book}}: Unknown parameter |editorlink= ignored (|editor-link= suggested) (help) mentions several groups that use the name: a Scheduled Caste found in the Bastar/Orissa area (also spelled Mahar etc, see p. 2077) and a community in Himachal Pradesh (also known as Kusha, Kashyap Rajput and Mehre, see p. 2273). Regardging the comments above by Sitush can you give me some articles that are high level which state something else for the Mehra . thanks. You have been trying to ignore facts, I do not know if its a jelousy or something. There are 100's of names on Wikipedia which state castes in the wiki articles and all sources are as strong as mine or weaker and yet Wikipedia does not go in and delete them. The "national" series of The People of India, of which the item I link above is a part, is considered to be a reliable source. The "states" series is not ... but that is not what I am referring to. Whoever keeps editing this is adding incorrect information. Mehra is not a surname belonging to Indian clans. The name is an ancient Zoroastrian term predating the clans referred to by the editor. Wikipedia is not a place for Hindu nationalism. Yes Mehra is a name found in India but it also has an older historical meaning.
