Good Article Status Plan[edit]

After reading through many Megaman articles, it occurred to me that not a single one is of GA status. This will change with this particular article. Please reference all game development news you find using the proper reference template tags. This development news will become the Development Section once the game has been released.

Once the game has been released, this article must be divided into the following sections:

  • Introduction - no title needed. Features release dates of the game, copies sold, short blurb about what type of game it is.
  • Gameplay - How the game plays. Have subsections labelled Weapons, Biometals etc. Reference with information from reviews, game faqs and instruction manual.
  • Plot - keep it short with little spoilers. Reference with in-game quotes if necessary.
  • Characters- only if necessary.
  • Development-basically all the information that is currently in the article. Perhaps add a subsection stating how this game differs from its prequel
  • Reception-use Metacritics.com to track down reviews reviewers.

If we start the article off right, it will be easy to ensure that this becomes Good Article status or maybe even Featured Article status. As long as we stick to an agreed action plan.

The plot description shouldn't be short, it should be the entire game's storyline, FILLED with spoilers. That's what the spoiler tag is for. I mean, there's nothing wrong with doing that in movie-related articles, so why's it wrong to do that here? The article on the previous game needs to be fixed to have this too. Advent[edit]

Should it be mentioned what the meaning of Advent is and how we no nothing of its use for the game [coming of a savior....Zero?Ceil?Vent?]

point aside they probably thought it would sound cool. Megaman ledgends what it is? because they thought it would sound atractive to the fanbase so they would be pushed to buy it! besides speculation is for fan forums not wikipedia... and also zero's body is clearly dead and his soul now inhabits model Z same with X. Ciel was stated in ZX to have gone missing in an outland... and Vent... why not Aile besides it has been cofirmed that they both will appear Vent in Ashe's story and Aile in Grey's. and apparently from the text it looks llike they will mentors like Girouette. Can Anyone Read Japanese?[edit]

I ask, because Capcom has recently created a Production Blog, which can be used to give us info to expand the "Current Details" section (which will, once the game has been released, be converted into a Development section).

When the say this does it mean...?[edit]

I found this statement in the Mega Man ZX Advent page: "The first ZX title featured spoken dialogue throughout the entire game, but the voices were removed from the English release instead of being translated into English." When they said this, did they mean to say that there was no English speaking dialogue, or did it meant that there was no dialogue at all. I'm slightly confused because it kind of contradicts the reality, because my version had the Japanese voices, and if they've made a mistake, I would like to clear it up. Thank you. Neo Guyver

In the Japanese ZX, a lot of pure text-and-sprite cutscenes had voice acting. It was cut out of the NA version, but the voices for the anime cutscenes were left in.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 01:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is really Master Albert the final boss? There's an artwork showing a blue-haired man, a red-haired man and a short man. Who of them is Albert?

the blue hair, also he share the name of the original bad guy from the classic series, ah duh.

Story[edit]

Can someone who has played the game please post the stories?


Isn't it important to post the stories? I mean, seriously, every other article has spoilers. We should just mark them out. The last time I was here, there were far more details, but they've been cut out along with pictures. I smell sabotage.

Please may all editors read this notice. I've taken the initiative to split the Game development section into three sections: Gameplay, Story and Development. Of these three sections, Development needs the most work. I tried to edit it, but I couldn't make head nor tail of the section at all. The information is all over the place, in no apparent chronological order. I will come back to edit it at times, but I do not believe it can be done in the space of an hour. Thus, I apologise for the way the article currently looks. Below is the original Game development section.

P.S. the development section and reception sections are always the weakest of any game article. Please concentrate on those if possible.

According to Famitsu, the game is set exactly four years and eight months after the first ZX title.[1] The game will star two new protagonists: Grey (グレイ, Gurei) (male),[2] who is described as a fourteen-year-old failed experiment awakened from a cryogenic sleep; and Ashe (アッシュ, Asshu) (female),[2] a fifteen-year-old ruin hunter who works for Legions, a government organization that oversees the world's affairs. Legions is controlled by three wise men named Master Thomas, Master Albert, and Master Mikhail. Notably the wise men are named after the three scientists in the original Mega Man series, Dr. Thomas Light, Dr. Albert Wily, and Dr. Mikhail Cossack.

Famitsu also confirms that Vent and Aile, the protagonists of the first ZX title, will be returning as adults. Vent will appear in Ashe's story, and Aile will appear in Grey's, each still equipped with Model ZX from the first title.[1] Model W returns, controlled by Master Albert.[3] Prometheus and Pandora from the first ZX game also return, and the two are focal points in each character's unique stories.

The only new Biometal shown in use by the playable characters is Model A . Model A combats with two large hand-cannons, can use homing shots, and can assume the identities of the game's eight main Pseudoroid bosses. Model A can also use a Giga Crush attack that can wipe out every enemy in the player's immediate range.[4]

Models F, H, L, and P from the first ZX title are also returning with new owners—Atlas (アトラス, Atorasu), Helios (ヘリオス, Heriosu), Thetis (テティス, Tetisu), and Siarnaq (シャルナク, Sharunaku) respectively—named after the moons of Saturn (like Prometheus and Pandora) as well as paralleling figures in Greek mythology.[5] The origins and intentions of these four characters are currently unknown, but media implies they have a connection with Model W. Early press releases[6] and the Japanese box artwork also revealed that five more Biometals will be available for the player to use.[7] The official website revealed them as being Models H, F, P, L, and ZX. Unlike the first ZX, the player will not actually take the Biometals from the fallen bosses, but instead will copy their identities with the power of Model A.

Another minor detail is that Grey and Ashe can use a buster gun in their humanoid forms (unlike Vent and Aile who were defenseless in their humanoid forms).[8] If the player can defeat a boss using only their humanoid forms, they can also receive medallions to represent their victory.

According to an article on Japanese Gaming site EG,[9] Advent will surpass the previous title in many aspects. Some of these aspects include an improved map system that includes both the original style of the first ZX title as well as a more detailed representation of the levels that resembles the same maps used for Models LX and PX in the previous title. Improved touch screen interactivity is also mentioned, allowing players to change Biometal forms by simply touching a button on the screen instead of pausing gameplay to change them.

The two playable characters also exhibit more differences in their abilities and storylines (whereas the first game's protagonists were almost entirely identical). For example, while in Model A forms, Grey's charged shot is standard while Ashe's is a laser that deflects off of surfaces. Also, when using Model A's homing shots, Grey fires out multiple shots that target individual enemies while Ashe fires a single beam that travels from one enemy to another.[10]

Furthermore, it is confirmed that the game will feature two-player cooperative head-to-head modes (two cards required) and single-card mini-games through the use of wireless play.[11]

The first ZX title featured spoken dialogue throughout the entire game, but the voices were removed from the English release instead of being translated into English. However, IGN claims that "the US version of the game will have spoken dialogue, as compared to last year's version where the developers decided to simply strip out voice acting in the US version."[11]

Anime cut-scenes will also be returning.

Pseudoroids[edit]

The Pseudoroids from the first game worked for Slither Inc., protecting Biometal passwords. Who do the new Pseudoroids work for?

Albert. That was made clear in the story. Pseudoroids can be produced from any biometal. What I want to know is where the heck their biometals go after you defeat them.

Master Thomas[edit]

Isn't it peculiar that Master Albert looks like the torso head of Serpent's final Model V transformation? Could there be any reason for this? And is this worthy of a mention? Rendvous 18:29, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is an interesting observation, but there is no way to determine if there's an actual connection or coincidence until it's been released in English or someone who can read Japanese translates any context clues. Model A's Identity[edit]

According to the article Model A is actually Albert and not Axl, but does the game actually say that? I find it a little hard to believe because all the previous models had the personalities of the characters their names are derived from. It doesn't seem like Model A has Albert's personality at all. The fact that Albert appears to be the main boss in the game also makes me suspicious. Article clean-up.[edit]

The article has needed major clean-up for a while, and since it seemed like no one had any intention of doing it, I went ahead and revamped everything. I think it'd be a good idea to not include the super-spoilerific plot points in this article as overly long plot overviews are discouraged in articles, but I don't see any reason not to go into detail about them in the character pages. And if anyone adds anything, make sure to cut down on the lists. Lists are also discouraged. We need to write things encyclopedic, and only include the important details. (I.e., if anyone thinks of adding every single move a transformation can perform, it's not a good idea.) -Crimsonseiko 22:39, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:VG assessment[edit]

This definitely isn't Stub-class any more! Well done on getting it up to a solid Start... and it's definitely within the scope of GA. Here are some ideas for further improvements:

  • More refs needed: WP:CITE. Response - Workin' on it.
  • Reception and Characters sections require expansion. The Gameplay section could be expanded by simply merging the Other Features section into it, removing any unnecessary details, though this may not be sufficient to provide a suitable overview. Response - My reasoning for such a short character section is that since a majority of the game's cast is playable by copying their forms, it seemed more suitable to basically combine their basic information with the Transformations section. The few remaining characters that aren't playable are mentioned in the Plot and outlined in greater detail with the character article. But I have an idea on how to expand the Character section and leave things in tact. I'll get back to you on that one. How's that? See what I did there? =P
When I did the peer review of Okami, the guys there pointed out that there were too many characters to reasonably list, so I suggested just talking about a couple of the main characters and main villains, giving a bit of background about each one. With no idea about Mega Man games, you may have already covered that, and if so then you'll need to de-listify them. Given the fact that the game was only recently released, you may want to put working on that section on hold for a couple of weeks until more reviews are released.
  • Lead needs expansion per WP:LS. Response - How's that?
Definitely better, though currently each paragraph is quite short. I'd suggest leaving it until the very end, when you've written the rest of the article, such that it'll be easier to provide an overview of it.
  • The Transformations section violates WP:NOT#GUIDE. Remember: if it's only useful to a player of the game it doesn't belong in an encyclopedia. Response - I worked on it. How's that? I left in the most basic information on their abilities and removed details on how to do them. Enhanced it more to describe the background of the characters and lessened the details on the abilities.
It still looks like a list of characters to me. First, move the information which isn't about how the game plays to the character section, then condense it down: have a look at FF7#Characters for a good character section.
  • Any information with which a good Development or Technology section could be made? Response - The developmental history of this game is pretty boring and generic... It was announced at a gaming convention, shortly after confirmed on Capcom's official site, and then information very gradually flooded in via issues of CoroCoro Comic... which is identical to most modern Mega Man games. As for the Technology suggestion, I sent you a question on your Talk page.
Per this discussion, I'd suggest that if you've got information on the subject you include it, however dry the subject matter. I don't think technology sections aren't as necessary, though. If it's exactly the same as the previous game/s, then I'd suggest mentioning that in a Development section.

Damn, as the creator of the GA Status Plan near the top of this page, I knew I should have kept a closer eye on this article. Don't worry, I'll get to work on the Reception information and the Development info, but I can't clean up the Gameplay section as the game hasn't been released in my region yet.
