Mazda 929[edit]

Moved from User talk:OSX: I was inches from reverting all of your recent edits, and then I realized that the 929 was, indeed, introduced later than the JDM counterparts. Doh! However, sales did continue later as well, should we adjust that? That is to say, the LA4 929 was sold far into 1982 in most markets. In Sweden, the HB 929 was called a "MY82.5", as it arrived there around April 1982. Mr.choppers | ✎ 02:14, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moved from User talk:OSX: It is really hard to say. My guess is that production stopped in time for the factory to be re-tooled for the new model, with sufficient stockpiles maintained to keep the export markets covered until the new export specification cars were ready. Moved from User talk:OSX: Definitely possible. Although they also kept manufacturing the old "van" models later, alongside the new models. I always wondered whether this took place in the same plant? The HB Luce was kept alive for taxi/fleet usage until 1995 (which is kind of insane) so who knows if they didn't keep building export models too? See page 5 here. Anyhow, all speculation on my part. And yes, it never concerned huge numbers, although the 929L (LA4) did sell pretty well in Northern Europe and Benelux. Btw, is there a reference for using "LA5"? Thanks for the document link. I will update the dates for the Luce using it as a guide. As for the LA5 reference, I think you may be onto something. For example, a Google search of Mazda 929 LA5 brings up nothing before 2010. Also, File:MHV Mazda 929L 1980 01.jpg is one of these so called "LA5" models and VicRoads lists the chassis number as LA4MS796408. Likewise, this advertisement for a 1983 929 wagon has the chassis code of "LA4MV821774". I suggest the "LA5" reference originated here and is not valid, so I'll remove it. Differences between English and Japanese sites[edit]

There is a little bit of inconsistancy between this article and Japanese Wikipedia. According to the Japanese site HB-series Luce was called "Mazda Custom Cab" from 1989 to 1995, "Luce" was dropped from its name. Furthermore, Japanese site mentions that HC-series Luce was produced until December 1995, while English version cites it was produced until January 1996.
