I understand something may be wrong with the logo, please tell me why it does not claim as fair use right now in its small state. I will continue to roll back any edits that do not involve removal of JUST the logo until we have a discussion about it. Until then I feel the logo has every right to stay .

Tone of Article[edit]

This article reads like a brochure from Masimo. It is unabashedly an advertisement for its products. Which is not to say that it's not accurate; still, it detracts from the serious intent of Wikipedia to have an article written by someone so obviously hawking his wares. It should be re-written by some objective author with appropriate references.98.170.202.33 (talk) 00:29, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The statements on this page are positive but factual and are cited by independent sources. What has been happening is that SPA editors remove citations and replace with "citation needed". If you have an edit for netrality or tone, make it constructively. The page should be objective and conform to Wiki's standards.--Deviceauthor1 (talk) 15:51, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obvious Corporate Control[edit]

Looking at the edit history it seems as though any time an edit is made that differs from what would be on a corporate website the edit gets removed and the company line is reinstated. This is NOT what Wikipedia is all about. This is a minor company trying to promote itself. This entry should be removed if this continues. User:Brazillianideas —Preceding undated comment added 16:10, 19 March 2011 (UTC).[reply]

The article is factual and has links to external sources. Please be specific in the statments that you think read like a brochure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deviceauthor1 (talkcontribs) 00:20, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As noted at Talk:Joe Kiani, I have raised the issue at WP:COIN#Masimo and related. The SPA editors need to take time to understand how encyclopedic articles should appear. Most of the current editing will have to be reverted. Johnuniq (talk) 01:19, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tags[edit]

From Wiki NPOV dispute: "Drive-by tagging is strongly discouraged. The editor who adds the tag must address the issues on the talk page, pointing to specific issues that are actionable..." "Simply being of the opinion that a page is not neutral is not sufficient to justify the addition of the tag. Tags should be added as a last resort."

Please identify the specific statments, words, or citations that you think are not neutral, do not add tags.--Deviceauthor1 (talk) 15:51, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been an editor for two days, and you have only edited articles that are related to one topic, namely the promotion of an individual, a company, and its products. Fortunately, you have a lot more skill than previous SPA accounts, and you have cleaned up the article well—good. However, in the future please do not quote extracts to experienced editors (the tag was not "drive-by"; it was thoroughly deserved). Instead, just ask what needs to be improved in order for the tag to be removed. In general, it is highly inappropriate for a brand new SPA to remove a tag: you should ask on the talk page and propose that it be removed. You might then consider removing such a tag after waiting for at least 24 hours. However, in this case it seems ok.
There are a couple of trivial issues (section is "References"—see WP:LAYOUT). These don't matter and will be fixed in due course.
Many of the references (here and particularly at Joe Kiani) appear to be slight variations of the same thing. Something more substantial would be desirable, or reduce the number of apparent refs if they are simply different spiels resulting from a press release.
I doubt if "Halo Index" (referenced to a speech by the CEO[?]) warrants mention here—it certainly does not warrant a section. On the company website, such a section and link would be great, but Wikipedia articles wait until something significant has occurred before recording it, and something which "may help clinicians" is not warranted here. Some of the other product descriptions are probably also overly detailed for an encyclopedic article given what a quick look suggests are flimsy references (just a press release?). Imagine what Procter & Gamble would look like if its products received the treatment in this article.
Despite my critique, the recent edits have greatly improved the articles. Johnuniq (talk) 04:07, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Part of being on Wikipedia means allowing for balance and neutrality. Corporate entries that get continually edited and reverted to only company-friendly details deserve scrutiny. Agree that recent edits made this entry much better. Better sourcing needed.Exidistypuke (talk) 14:24, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate the constructive comments by Johnuniq, edits were made to address these issues and add citations.--68.4.86.101 (talk) 04:21, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Halo Index Reference[edit]

Search of +Masimo, +"Halo Index" yeilded 750 entries, all various pick-ups of the company's press release. No information abvailable from any independent source on value/efficacy of Halo Index. Even the company's own communictaions do not explain what it is beyond a euphamistic "The Halo Index is a dynamic new indicator that facilitates continuous global trending and assessment of multiple physiological parameters to quantify changes in patient status. Ranging in value from 0-10, the Halo Index helps clinicians to better assess overall patient condition and predict deterioration in health status."

Should be added back in only when/if it is proven to be useful.FactCheckerOne (talk) 21:18, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Banner[edit]

Article presents the company in a positive light, but does not appear to be innacurate. Well sourced, measured. Did not warrant having the top banner — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClasicallyTrained (talkcontribs) 19:02, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request[edit]

Hi! I work closely with Joe Kiani and would like to disclose a conflict of interest. There are a few changes to the page that I’d like to suggest:

  • Remove “In 2012” from the first sentence of the Capnography and gas monitoring section.
  • Remove “In 2020” from the first sentence of the Bridge section.
  • Add the following sentence to the W1 section:
    • The health watch provides continuous monitoring of oxygen saturation, pulse rate, perfusion index, PVi, respiration rate, step count, and fall detection.
  • Add a new section under the W1 section titled Masimo Opioid Halo.
  • Add the following information under the new Masimo Opioid Halo section:
    • The FDA authorized the Masimo Opioid Halo in April, 2023 after selecting Masimo in the Opioid Crisis Innovation Challenge in 2018. This monitoring system received De Novo authorization, making it available over-the-counter and through prescription. The device uses a pattern recognition algorithm to help identify the risk of opioid-induced respiratory depression and helps users detect when intervention is needed to prevent an overdose.

https://www.fiercebiotech.com/medtech/masimo-receives-fda-clearance-first-opioid-overdose-prevention-monitor

Thank you in advance! Additionally, if anyone has any feedback on how the page can be improved to remove the tag I would really appreciate it.

  Unable to review
Your edit request could not be reviewed because the request is not formatted correctly.

  1. The citation style predominantly used by the Masimo article appears to be Citation Style 1. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.)
  2. Citation ref tags have not been placed within the requested text indicating which portions of the text the source is referencing. (See WP:INTEGRITY.)

In the collapsed section below titled Request edit examples, I have illustrated two: The first shows how the edit request was submitted; the second shows how requests should be submitted in the future.

Request edit examples
INCORRECT

The Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles, while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles. The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.

https://www.booksource.com
https://www.journalsource.com
https://www.websource.com

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Masimo article. Additionally, ref tags have not been placed within the text at the exact positions where the information they reference resides. Using the correct style and the correct positioning of the ref tags, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:

CORRECT

The Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles,<ref>{{cite book|last1=Sjöblad|first1=Tristan|title=The Sun|url=http://www.booksource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=1}}</ref> while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Harinath|first1=Prisha|title=Size of the Moon|journal=Science|issue=78|volume=51|url=http://www.journalsource.com|date=2020|page=46}}</ref> The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.<ref>{{cite book|last1=Uemura|first1=Shu|title=The Sun's Heat|url=http://www.websource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=2}}</ref>

Which displays as:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc. Also, the ref tags are placed in the exact location where the text which they reference resides. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review.

Kindly rewrite your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example shown in the collapsed section above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards,  Spintendo  00:49, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

  1. ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.
