Golden Skillet[edit]

My understanding is that the Canadian fried chicken outlet Mary Brown's started as a Canadian franchise of Golden Skillet, but "Golden Skillet" was already trademarked in Canada. This was long before free trade. Having to rename the restaurant, the Canadian owners requested and received permission to use the name of the wife of the founder of Golden Skillet or something like that. I remember reading something like this in an article in The Telegram. Unfortunately, I read it years ago and my memory is a bit hazy. Also, that newspaper article is not online. If somebody knew roughly the date of when this article appeared, I'd be more than happy to fish it out at MUN library and add the relevant information, with appropriate references. 142.163.131.51 (talk) 18:36, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
