Source with historical background[edit]
There is some interesting discussion on page 206 of the book The Scientific method by Louis F. Fieser about Martius Yellow and various synthesis steps where it is used. On page 208 the annual Martius Yellow Prize Competition is detailed. Page 224 mentions the educational film that includes a number of the reactions where the Martius Yellow is used as the starting chemical in a chain of colourful intermediaries.
