Age Fabrication[edit]

I have removed the section on Ms. MacCallum lying about her age. I searched google and found no evidence that she has lied about her age. Until someone provides said evidence, it will kept off this page. Abacab 04:57, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the sources were shown in the links her age is revealed in her wedding announment in the new york times back in 1992 and in the interviews that are linked as sources she reveals her ages inconsistently

The purported interviews do not quote Ms. McCallum as saying she was in her early 30s during the 2002 interview - this is the assertion of the writer of the USA today column. The writer does not say why she thinks Ms. MacCallum is in her early 30s or the source of the writers belief about Ms. MacCallum's age. The person who originally posted the alleged "discrepancy" has not factual leg to stand on. 204.14.239.174 12:26, 11 April 2007 (UTC)virago81[reply]

Women's Issues[edit]

I removed derogatory allegations against Ms. McCallum that had no citations. Slinging mud at public figures on Wikipedia is certainly acceptable _IF_ adequate sources can be cited. The section in question had no citations whatsoever, had no particular point (in what way were the alleged incidents indicative of Ms. MacCallum's stance on "women's issues")? They amounted to slanderous hearsay. Virago81 12:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)virago81[reply]

Controversy -- Is this for real??[edit]

On January 21, 2008, the Fox News segment "The Live Desk With Martha MacCallum" discussed Mass Effect[1] with the heading 'SE'Xbox?' Claiming the new video game shows full digital nudity and sex. MacCallum stated that the game "leaves nothing to the imagination," features "the ability for players to engage in full graphic sex" where the player gets to decide what happens, cited critics as saying that the Mature-rated game is marketed to children and teenagers, and read a rebuttal from publisher Microsoft stating that the company abides by rating systems and provides monitoring tools for parents. Psychology specialist and author Cooper Lawrence and video game journalist Geoff Keighley were interviewed. Keighley focused on challenging the accuracy of previous statements, describing Mass Effect as having an optional, brief sexual situation as the culmination of a romantic relationship in a 30+ hour game. Adding to Lawrence's inaccuracies is the fact that the main character is not allowed to be with more than one individual, sexually and romantically, and the sexual content is limited to partial nudity, and sexual themes, as categorized by ESRB ratings. MacCallum and Lawrence admitted that they had not played the game.

Yes. This is in-fact, real. It has been cited with a news article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.226.192.26 (talk) 11:00, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this as non notable and undue weight compared to the rest of the bio. --Tom (talk) 14:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Obamacare worse than the war in Iraq[edit]

I think this should be added in. It's a pretty unique viewpoint even among members of the media.

Former news anchor? Left her career in journalism?[edit]

She still anchors at fox, and is as much of a journalist as any talking head on any news show. Is this some underhanded way to suggest Fox News isn't news or some other partisan nonsense? This needs to be changed and article perhaps protected from future vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.54.37.127 (talk) 18:34, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

St. Lawrence University degree?[edit]

I attended St. Lawrence during the years that Martha MacCallum would have earned her BS degree, since she was born in 1965. But her name is not listed in any of the campus directories, and her picture is not shown in any of the Freshman student picture books. Does anyone have any information that shows she attended the school, other than the statement on the Fox News website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chocolate Chemist (talkcontribs) 17:08, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Criticisms re Capitol storming[edit]

Pinging involved editors: @Hangsun.577, Materialscientist, and Snooganssnoogans:

Hangsun.577 is proposing the removal of this section:

After a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, she initially said, “This is a huge victory for these protesters. They have disrupted the system in an enormous way!”[1][2] Later on during the coverage of the insurrection she called the events "unsettling" and stated that "control has to be maintained."[2] She likened the storming of the U.S. Capitol to a peaceful protest outside Josh Hawley's home a few days earlier; The New York Times said it was "bizarre" to link "swarms of Trump supporters breaking into the seat of democracy, an event that made worldwide news, to a small-scale incident at the home of a Republican official."[3] Fox News demoted her show from its evening showtime to midafternoon.[1]

Their arguments are as follows (verbatim from their edit summaries):

  • I removed unnecessary mentions of "criticisms" that are motivated by political bias. I have added similar sourced "criticisms" to liberal-leaning news personalities, only to have them removed. If wikipedia is to be objective, they should apply same standards to BOTH right and left-leaning personalities. If this is added again, then it shows the strong bias of Wikipedia editors.
  • Once again, I am removing this because this is politically motivated. Wikipedia editors are notorious for marking as many "controversies" for conservatives but purging them for liberals. If this is added once again, I will disclose screenshots of the entire process I have been documenting here and make it public.
  • Once again, the "controversy" cited here is meant to target Martha as a result of political bias. I have contacted Martha and her attorneys will be looking at Wikipedia's politically-motivated bias for only targeting conservatives. Stop changing my edits!!!!

I am keen not to litigate this via edit summary and I'm mindful that WP:ONUS is on those seeking to retain content, so I am keen for thoughts from other editors on whether this content should be retained and if so, whether the current language is suitable.
