Hang on[edit]

I believe that this page should be kept on Wikipedia because Wikipedia has articles shorter than this one on other places in St.Albans such as Jersey Farm, and yet does not yet have an article on Marshalswick.

The problem is, this article is very unclear in regards to what Marshalswick is, where it is, etc. It doesn't even say what country its in or anything like that. Tad Lincoln (talk) 19:32, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, i have edited it so it includes the country it is in (england) would you suggest anything else i ought to add to it to keep it from being deleted?

I've recently been inducted as the Vicar of Marshalswick (St Mary's C of E)so have been researching the history of this area. I believe this article should stay as Marshalswick is an historic village dating back to at least the thirteenth century, probably earlier as the Domesday entry for St Albans refers to an area I believe to be the Wick (an ancient word for hamlet). Although post-war infill housing now links Marshalswick to St Albans the area retains a village feel and outlook. I've found a link which refers to the actual origin of the village's name along with some useful dates and geographical detail... http://www.thrale.com/history/english/sandridge/marshalswick.php - Perhaps somebody more familiar with Wikipedia formatting would be able to include this information? If not I'll have a go myself in a few days. For reference the shopping area now has two charity shops but the off license is due to close soon. Perhaps this data should be more vague as shops come and go. There are a number of churches in Marshalswick in addition to the URC church in Homewood Road.
