Untitled[edit]

The John Catsoulis photo seems to be taken from a high-rise apartment near the surf beach, looking north. In the photo, you see lower multi-story apartment buildings, dune vegetation, a lower building very near the beach is the surf club, the Pacific ocean, the Maroochy river mouth. The caravan (~ US trailer) park is on the southern (nearer) side of the river mouth but not particularly visible. North of the river is still in Maroochy Shire but not considered part of the town. There is "Pin Cushion" immediately on the north side of the river mouth, Old Woman Island out to sea. Mount Coolum seems to be visible near the top. 203.164.221.8 02:10, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The photo was taken from Eloura Tower (http://www.eloueratower.com.au) at the main surf beach, and is looking north. The foreground stuff is Maroochy.

This page reads much too much like an advertisement. I've gone some way in deleting the blatantly advertisement phrases, but perhaps a rewrite is in order? OutlandishTeacup 11:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Being one of the main centres on the Sunshine Coast, it could certainly do with more "encyclopaedic" information, e.g. History, Demographics etc. I wish I knew a little more about Maroochydore... QazPlm 23:52, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added something about Maroochydore's name, about it being part of an Aborigini name, but I'm not exactly sure so I added a "Citation Needed" because there isn't any information online about the history, because that's important too. I also corrected a few glitches. StevenT1 18:24, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Marutchi" or similar means swan in some of the more southern Kabi dialects, but probably not in the dialect spoken around Maroochydore, where "kuluin" is swan. The town seems to be named after the Maroochy river, but the reason for the river's name is unclear. The airport was once called Maroochydore airport, but it is not actually at Maroochydore, rather it is across the river near Mudjimba beach. 198.142.40.211 (talk) 04:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've lived there for five years now and have not seen a black swan yet. Philjones828 (talk) 04:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

These days they aren't common, but there are still a few. Try the sewerage works or quieter spots on the river. 198.142.19.216 (talk) 07:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Population data for Mudjimba[edit]

Why does this article include population data for Mudjimba? Why not put it in the Mudjimba article? Kerry (talk) 21:39, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
