The "Jet" section of this Wiki uses very technical language, along with unexplained acronyms which make the subject difficult, if not impossible for non-experts to understand — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.205.1.113 (talk) 02:44, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Size[edit]

On User Talk:Parejkoi, I asked him that is Markarian 501 the largest galaxy? And he said the the size is certainly incorrect. Shall I remove that entry of 12,581,000ly ?--THE COLOSSAL GALAXY NAMED IC1101 (talk) 08:53, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes this sounds dubious, is it really appearing to be over 1 degree across in the sky?, I might believe minute across more. Unfortunately the link supporting the info is to a database that is now dead. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:48, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Someone confused arcsec and arcmin, so size given here was 60× too big. But I have done some downsizing. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:58, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the correction.--THE COLOSSAL GALAXY NAMED IC1101 (talk) 07:41, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now you have heard about Markarian 501 the most powerful galaxy at very high energy gamma rays as observed on Earth. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:37, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I Initially Declared it is the Largest Galaxy BUT I started to doubt Its size In late June. I talked to Parejkoi, An astronomer and he said the Size was Inaccurate. I only Said the inaccuracy Yesterday, and Thanks for Correcting It.Looks like IC 1101, Though having a Debated size Has Came Back as one Of the Largest galaxies known. Also, Note that IC 1101's Black hole is much larger than Markarian 501’s Black hole (40,000,000,000 > 900,000,000) solar masses for IC 1101 and Markarian 501 ‘s Black Holes respectively- looks like IC 1101 wins out in terms of black hole size .--THE COLOSSAL GALAXY NAMED IC1101 (talk) 07:04, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
