Scholarship, charity, etc.[edit]

Buzzfeed (whatever) has more details on Dr Pepsi, including that she sponsors a scholarship for first-gen African-American students. Kingsif (talk) 17:56, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Added the scholarship to the article. Thanks! Benny White (talk) 21:07, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Benny White: Can you expand or reword that to explain what a first-gen African-American student is? When I see the term, I think it means a direct child of an immigrant to a country, but I don't think that's what it's supposed to mean. I suspect it refers to students who are the first in their immediate families to have attended or completed college but I'd like someone who is more familiar with the term to make the actual edit to the article. That is what it is. "First gen student" is a pretty common term in US higher education to refer to the first of their family to attend college. Kingsif (talk) 16:13, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, note that I didn't see "African-American students" in the sources I cited, so I didn't end up specifying that in the article edit. (Might be in other sources.) Benny White (talk) 20:09, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
