Basically an advert

This article is very much a PR experiment for mark peter . I wouldn't be surprised if it was written by the man himself. I pray to the god of wikipedia that someone with some sense removes all the big headed bullshit and makes this what its supposed to be i.e. an article in an encyclopedia. This article is written exactly as an advertisement. It needs a complete rewrite. Lines about how a person cooked chips for another, but then charging 25 pounds "for the honor of it" have no place in Wikipedia. It's *had* a rewrite, I spent some time on it at the weekend. The line about chips is *perfectly* relevant, it's an example of the mans personality. I'd be interested in some better examples, or, alternatively, rewrite the article yourself. 06:44, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

The story about cutting open the young chef's clothes with a knife is sufficient to show his personality. I have removed the story about the chips. Also the article that is the citation says nothing about the 25 pounds being for the "honor" of eating them; it just says that it was for the time he spent preparing them. Minor point. The quote under Hell's Kitchen reads, "I might be the hardest person they'll have ever met but I've got a heart just as big. It's about picking people up off the floor and inspiring them to want to carry on 'til the end." As a source is being quoted, perhaps it was right to use the contraction, but "till" is not a contraction word, it is a word in its own right and actually precedes "until". Criterion

There is no mention of Criterion restaurant. Below is a cut & paste from somewhere else, but can someone write something authoritative about it.

Iconic London restaurant the Criterion has been taken over by Vasily Sopromadze, a Georgian entrepreneur, as the first of a number of planned investments in the capital.

The Marco Pierre White-branded restaurant at Piccadilly Circus, which was run by White’s business partner Jimmy Lahoud, has been taken over by Sopromadze’s company Vox Restaurant.

Marco Pierre White acquired the restaurant from Forte in 2001, when it was managed by My Kinda Town, and the sale follows that of White’s London restaurants the Mirabelle, Drones and Quo Vadis to Conduit Street Restaurants at the end of 2007.

Vox Restaurant plans to carry out a “gentle and sympathetic” restoration of the the Criterion including the refurbishment of the premises and upgrading of the kitchens and equipment. The group will relaunch the restaurant in May and plans to acquire other restaurant opportunities in central London.

Originally opened in 1874 as the Long Bar or Marble Hall, the Criterion is a Grade II-listed building that forms part of the 120,000 sq ft Criterion Theatre block which is owned by the Crown Estate. Mr Ishii

is a central figure in Marco's TV shows articles and life. He is not irrelevant.

White does not drive but has a devoted Japanese chauffeur and assistant named Takanori Ishii.

Being a deer stalker is more irrelevant.

Adding notable chefs

There is a person who keeps being added to the list of notables. This person is James Stocks. Is there any consensus for his inclusion? He doesn't have a wiki page. My thoughts are that is the likes of Phil Howard and Stephen Terry aren't on the list, including James Stocks is ridiculous.NEDOCHAN (talk) 08:25, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

In the Hell's Kitchen section: "At one point during the series, controversy ensued when White said, "I don't think it was a pikey's picnic tonight."" I'm scratching my head as to what, exactly, was controversial about that statement? Even after following the link, I'm still not quite clear about it. White's statement was considered controversial because the English word "pikey" is an insulting name for Gypsies, Travellers. The implication is that the Travellers are brawlers who fight with pikes. Younggoldchip (talk) 20:45, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

White Heat

There is currently no mention here of Mr. White's seminal chef memoir/cookbook, White Heat, though there is a Wikipedia entry for the book itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Heat_(book). What if that statement were true? You discount that as a possibility out of hand? And where would one look to get it "verified by any independent source"? If it's clearly presented as a direct quote from White himself, I think we ought to allow the reader to make a judgement. If that judgement is "obvious self-service", then so be it.
