Doesn't this make more sense as part of the 2022 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles season article?Fleets (talk) 15:14, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly, although I think the event is independently notable. But the thing is, I didn't realise the 2022 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles season existed: there was no 2022 entry in Manly Warringah Sea Eagles article, and I looked at Category:2022 NRL season by club and is wasn't there under "M". @Fleets: I’m not so sure. It’s a very big thing. Newspaper front pages for successive days. Big splashes in all of them. Hugely controversial. Lots of people are talking about it. And it’s not a rugby league game play thing. Should it therefore be written up on Wikipedia outside of the season article?
The slapdash name of the article definitely has to change. "Manly pride jersey player boycott" is simply not good enough, as A there is an insinuation that it is manly to boycott a pride jersey (was this intended?), B the full name of the club should be included, and C the p in pride needs to be capitalised, making it "Manly Waringah Sea Eagles Pride jersey player boycott". Can we agree on that, please? Or alternatively, insert 2022 after Eagles? Either way, the name needs to be changed, and soon. Thanks.
Getting back to the potential move to placement of it within the season article: to enable it to be linked directly from the individual players' pages, which we can probably all agree on the necessity of, it would have to be a separate section and not a subsection. Would everyone be happy with that? If it can’t be thus linked, then we’re back with the need for a separate article.

(As article creator) I did think about whether to have the full name of the club. I was mainly following the secondary sources (e.g. "Manly pride jersey furore") but I also looked at Category:Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and while most articles had the club's full name, there is a precedent for the short version with Manly–Melbourne NRL rivalry. I am fine with Manly Waringah Sea Eagles pride jersey player boycott, but "pride" needs to be in lower case, per the LGBT pride article. I don't think the year is necessary or desirable, unless the same thing happens in a future year. Finally, just a quick note on Wikipedia terminology: if we want this to be part of another article (like 2022 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles season) that would be a merge rather than a move.
