Given name

I noticed this article is titled "Malcom" [sic] and also refers to "Malcolm" in the sidebar. Therefore I placed the "contradict" template message. I am wondering if an editor knowledgeable about Mr. McLean can determine the correct spelling and make the names consistent or can place something in there about why the names vary, i.e. when he changed his given name. -Rolypolyman (talk) 00:02, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

He was named Malcolm at birth but began spelling it as Malcom in the early 1950s, as stated in the footnote on page 37 of The Box: How The Shipping Container Made The World Smaller and The World Economy Bigger by Marc Levinson. You can find an ebook here. AsimovtheCat (talk) 02:10, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

$500 Million loan

I think the statement "McLean secured a bank loan for $500 million and in January 1956" is suspect. There's no way a bank would give that kind of loan for an unproven idea. It probably originated from this article: http://www.investors.com/news/management/leaders-and-success/malcom-mclean-invented-better-shipping-containers/

Another article says he got a $22 million loan: http://hooversworld.com/malcolm-mclean-unsung-innovator-who-changed-the-world/

As does this one below. I think the $500 million number comes from the amount they sold the company for later. Probably these figures got mixed up: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/malcolm-mclean-unsung-innovator-who-changed-world-gary-hoover

So probably that should be changed to $22 million if this adds up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JettaMann (talkcontribs) 19:04, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
