1960's and 1070's should be 1960s and 1970s - adding an apostrophe makes it possessive, no apostrophe makes it plural.

commas, periods and other punctuation need to go AFTER the superscripted hyperlink to reference material.

Really good and thorough start. I think you could expand the career section a little bit... or you could start a new section where you talk about her films. What are the themes she cares about, what's her style like? Since she collaborated a lot, you could talk a little more about how her career was nontraditional in that sense. This is a good start. The lead needs significant work. What makes Madeline Tourtelot significant? Provide an overview of her career, from film critic, to filmmaker, to early Chicago gallerist, to educator. Note especially her work with significant composers like Ed Bland (with whom she also worked on "The Cry of Jazz") and Harry Partch. Really great start! Impressed with your proficient formatting skills and a dive into your subject matter. I think the lead could be expanded, as other commenters have noted, but think you are well on your way. I also think you could find a way to contextualize the scope and the impact of Madeline's career in a more overarching sense. Was Madeline's position as a woman in a male-dominated industry significant? What was the nature of her collaborations (i.e. who influenced who? who maintained control?) These are some aspects of your article that I think could use a little more attention. Looking forward to seeing more!

In the lede perhaps saying she was a prominent female figure rather than she became, or if you prefer became perhaps an explanation as to how she became prominent, is there something distinctive about her style? Is she notable because of the collaborations?


Smith College is in the Northeastern US, not midwest.
