Added {{mergefrom}}/{{mergeto}} as per comment at Talk:McKenzie. --Connel MacKenzie - wikt 07:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC) Yes, do it! --Doric Loon 10:19, 18 November 2006 (UTC) no,dont do it````from Colin Turnock 7/1/07-I have been researching my family history on my Mother's side, and some birth/marriage/death certificates show McK and others show MacK, so it would make sense to merge them````[reply]

Disambiguation page[edit]

This is purely to redirect people to the correct location they need, not an article in itself. I have removed the following from it, which needs to be in a proper article, maybe the one of the clan. It is also unreferenced:

"Mac" or "Mc" is Gaelic for "son of," and "Kenzie" is a derivative of the name Kenneth, which itself translates into "the handsome one". The <z> is originally a yogh, and the pronunciation with /z/ is actually an unetymological reflex of the modern spelling, but it is universal and now accepted as correct.

I have no disagreement with the removal of the above, but I think it is helpful to have a brief statement about the origin of the name which I have added. Ben MacDui (Talk) 09:58, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When a disambig page is is dealing with a complex of references whose origins and connections are not immediately obvious to everyone, it is good to have an introductory sentence saying what came first and how the rest is related. The idea that a disambig page should be purely a list with no introductory text is a sacred cow for some people, but it should not be an absolute rule. In this case, the information on the origin of the name would either have to be put into EVERY article on the list, or else put here to cover all of them. --Doric Loon 10:14, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
