Should't there be a mention of the live-action Lucky Star porno movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.217.18.173 (talk) 15:42, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, no, and no; non-notable third-party production not involved with the material.-- 19:23, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hell no, it's esoteric anyway. (I had to say that) Wait a tic, Mr. IP adress musta seen it. Lesser Shadow (talk) 05:47, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genres[edit]

Previously, the genres included Comedy, Parody, and Satire. I reduced this down to just "Satire". Satire and parody are petty much synonyms of each other and both are forms of comedy or humor. Listing all three is both repetitiveness and redundant when only one would do just fine. --Farix (Talk) 23:37, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Satire and parody are different things. Satire is poking fun at failures, shortcomings and vices. Parody is poking fun at something through imitation. Satire can be parody, parody can be satire, but not all parody is satire and not all satire is parody. Also, not all humour in Lucky Star is derived from either satire or parody. After reading this rationale I think you will agree that it's better to put the original genres back, so I'll save you the trouble. Shinobu (talk) 08:01, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2nd DVD citation needed[edit]

Just read it's going to be on July 1. Need citations. I don't think product pages are acceptable though. I'm going to try to find an article. --Addict 2006 21:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I referenced the ANN page which shows the street date.-- 07:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name Mix-up[edit]

I have noticed on some merchandise (mainly cell phone charms) Konata and Tsukasa's names are mixed up. Mew Mitsuki (talk) 18:55, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stepmania and other stuffs.[edit]

There's a bunch of Lucky Star songs/videos concering Lucky Star in the Stepmania game. Should that be added?

Also, I've noticed that Konata bears a very close resemblance to Shana of Shakugan no Shana. Besides physical resemblance, they also like sweet breads (Shana likes melon bread while Konata is obsessed with chocolate cornets). I've also heard that Konata has sung her fair share of Shana songs as well. Not sure if that rumor is true or not, though.

Another character resemblance can be found between the Hiiragi twins and Kyou and Ryou from Clannad. First of all, both series have them as purple-haired twins. Kyou is a tsundere who can be violent and is a good cook (the part about Kagami being a bad cook might be a spin-off of this). Ryou, the younger, is timid and can't cook well (again, probably an inside joke). Also, she is obsessed with fortune telling, while Tsukasa is rather gullible and is also into things such as making wishes on shooting stars. Plus, both Clannad and Lucky Star are produced by KyoAni. If that is't enough to convince you, this picture should do more than enough justice: http://kurogane.animeblogger.net/image/clannad/CLANNAD_18_kyou_ryou.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doggiedoggie (talkcontribs) 20:21, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I'm not familiar with Stepmania, but it'll probably be worth a mention in the reception section granted it's sourced by reliable sources.
Second of all, Konata does not sing any songs from Shakugan no Shana in Lucky Star, and any resemblance is only a coincidence. I myself think Shana and Konata look nothing alike, and their personalities are stark opposites.
Third of all, the comparison between the Hiiragi twins with the Fujibayashi twins is just a coincidence, especially when even though the anime were both produced by KyoAni, Clannad began as a visual novel, and the fact that KyoAni ended up doing both Lucky Star and Clannad is just a coincidence. So, just like the Konata/Shana comparison, there is no basis for this, unless you can find an interview of Kagami Yoshimizu saying he was influenced by Clannad, which is impossible because Clannad did not come out until a few months after Lucky Star began serialization (but Clannad had been in development for several years before that).-- 02:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Stepmania reception should not be added, as Stepmania itself is a fan-based game. After all, almost every anime opening already been in Stepmania, so I don't really see Lucky Star has significant impact in the Stepmania community Nggak (talk) 12:58, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dead links[edit]

Thanks, Nihonjoe. Do you also have a working link to the Sankei Shimbun article? Because that link's also dead. Shinobu (talk) 19:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As is the Asahi Shimbun article, and the Fuji News Network article, and the Yomiuri Shimbun article. Note that although I thought for a moment that the link I removed was not archived, it appears that the Internet Archive search function is down at the moment. So just maybe, some of these articles are still present in the archive... we can hope, can't we? Shinobu (talk) 20:06, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

November release verification needed[edit]

Recently, I saw several sources that conflict: Some say Nov. 4 (the previous uncited statement, as well as in some blog I stumbled upon), few say Nov. 18 (like DVD Empire). And Anime News Network makes no mention yet. I'm gonna have to try to find more sources. Not to mention that product pages may not be suitable; however, I saw that DVDEmpire was cited on other articles here. --Addict 2006 16:02, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dump site list (unfortunately most are product pages so I don't know):

Well, this is listed as "verification needed". --Addict 2006 16:09, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Solved. November 4 passed without a mention. The release date's now November 18. --Addict 2006 14:32, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Demographic[edit]

Lucky Star's demographic is seinen, not shounen. --AnY FOUR! (talk) 14:47, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a reference/citation for that? It was serialised in Shōnen Ace, so unless you have something by the author or publisher stating it is seinen, we'll have to leave it listed as shōnen. David Bailey (talk) 16:23, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from apparent seinen targetting (amount of parody, pace, etc) it was airing at midnight. Clearly a seinen series, IMO. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.112.105.118 (talk) 09:25, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's purely original research on your part. Unless you have a reliable source calling it seinen, despite having ran in a shōnen manga anthology, it shouldn't be changed. --Farix (Talk) 11:24, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Original research? The fact that it was airing at midnight? Meh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.242.135.202 (talk) 15:24, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Air time is irrelevant when we're discussing the manga. David Bailey (talk) 16:10, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Compared to anime few people care about this manga. Especially since it was a yonkoma, not manga proper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.242.135.202 (talk) 16:21, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Basing a manga's demographic on the anime's airtime is original research. In fact, basing any demographic on airtime is original research. --Farix (Talk) 20:25, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Split Articles?[edit]

I came to this page looking for the anime, which is wildly popular in Japan and among American enthusiasts, and found it to be mostly about the manga. I believe that the manga and anime pages should be split, and the anime page should be expanded greatly.Pressondude (talk) 23:17, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There really isn't any need to have separate articles, especially when there is not much difference between the manga and anime. Besides, anime/manga articles are primarily written around the source material with the adaptations branching off that. The point is, information on the anime can be expanded in this article. And it's not recommended per WP:MOS-AM to split articles like you suggested.-- 00:58, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OVA release date[edit]

"A pre-announcement was made in Kadokawa Shoten's Comptiq magazine that an original video animation project would be produced for Lucky Star.[19] The June 2008 issue of Comptiq reported that the OVA was due out in summer 2008.[20] However, it was delayed and instead was released on September 26, 2008.[3] The OVA features six separate stories revolving around the cast, some of which border on the bizarre; one of which is an MMORPG environment being played by Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, and Nanako Kuroi, and another which in which Kagami has a 'suggestive' dream about Konata. The Lucky Channel segment is performed in live-action rather than being animated. The ending theme to the OVA, "Ai o Torimodose!!" (愛をとりもどせ!!?, lit. "Recover Love!!"), is sung by Uchōten, which is composed of the singers Hiromi Konno and Minoru Shiraishi. The song was originally the opening theme to Fist of the North Star. The OVA was licensed by Bandai Entertainment, and can be expected to be released by the end of 2009.[21]"

If the OVA is already released, then why should we expect it by the end of 2009?--Quatroking (talk) 20:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because the licensed version hasn't been released yet, obviously.-- 21:30, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

recent edit about graduating[edit]

The anime never told of their graduation. It ended in their culture festival (文化祭), which is called open day in some other nations, where the school is opened for outsiders to go in and students have different display, shows, exhibitions and shops to host them. If you, User:76.170.30.67, insist they graduated, please provide verifiable and reliable source to prove it. Further reverts without such sources will be viewed as vandalism like your other recent edits. —Preceding signed comment added by MythSearchertalk 07:32, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

US release[edit]

The manga is being dropped by Bandai Entertainment; http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature/bandai_downsizing_ken_iyadomi_interview

The reference also says that Luck Star was one of their top 4 US manga sellers ever. Surprised me, anyway. --Gwern (contribs) 22:36 3 January 2012 (GMT)

Lucky Star (manga)Lucky☆Star – The Funimation website lists it as "Lucky Star", while MyAnimeList refers to it as "Lucky☆Star" Robbie0630 (talk) 22:07, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to withdraw your proposal? —A L T E R C A R I   04:20, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:TSC and WP:MOSTM. —  AjaxSmack  22:03, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The series isn't referred to as "Lucky Star Star" by reliable sources, but just "Lucky Star". The "☆" in the title is purely decorative and does not change the meaning of the title nor indicates strong feelings or high volume like an exclamation point would. Nor does the "☆" indicate that the title is asking a question or making is a statement. And finally, MyAnimeList is based on user generated content and is not a reliable source for anything. It also links to illegally distributed fansubs and scanlations, which are accessible if you register an account. —Farix (t | c) 11:37, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
