The redirect no longer works as the section on the Pixar article has been renamed, it should now say "#REDIRECT Pixar#Upcoming projects and expansion to television". Anonymous 7481 (talk) 01:54, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:06, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect target has changed again. It should now say "#REDIRECT Pixar#Upcoming films". --Bjs (talk) 12:50, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can we use this for the draft? Luca has evidence for already being in production/filming, which is a necessity for becoming a full article. At the Dianey Investor presentation, footage from Luca was revealed, and they revealed a sneak peek at the trailer privately to investors. With this info, I think the draft, Draft:Luca (2021 film), should be a regular article now, but this page is admin protected. Iamnoahflores (talk) 20:41, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Missvain: What do you think about moving the draft live? The main evidence of production seems to be the Investor footage. The draft doesn't yet show any information about production other than an announcement, so that would need to be resolved at the very least. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 04:15, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi ReaderofthePack! If we can get a reliable secondary source (or two) to show that the film is in production, then I'm totally happy to support the effort in moving the draft to this page. Let me know how to support when the time is right. Missvain (talk) 04:34, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not done not sure what is being discussed here, but as far as the edit request goes it is certainly missing the complete and specific description of the request. — xaosflux Talk 17:15, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

add {{R with possibilities}} Robert McClenon (talk) 03:50, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation: Please add the R-with-possibilities tag to the redirect, because a draft exists and has been submitted for review. (I will decline the draft, but the draft should be kept to be updated when the film is released.) Robert McClenon (talk) 03:53, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Robert McClenon: FYI, I've replaced your transclusion of {{R with possibilities}} with a link to the template to prevent this talkpage from being improperly categorized. Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 01:16, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing for development?[edit]

It has yet to release, but in May Chronicle Books will release The Art of Luca, which per the description will cover the film's development and production process. I don't know why Pixar and Disney are being so coy about the production process with this one, honestly. Even this article from earlier this month talk about it like it's yet to have production started, despite the projected release date of later this year. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 04:08, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok, Laughing Place mentions the film as in production. I'm not familiar enough with Disney sourcing to know if this is reliable or not. There's also this and [cbr.com/inside-pixar-reveals-first-look-luca-sea-monster/ this]. Apparently the development was covered in this episode of Inside Pixar. I have Disney+ so I'll try to review this later tonight to determine if it's usable. Looks like it should be, though. We should publish now[edit]

The teaser has been released, and the cast has been revealed. I think we should publish now since the public will get interested in the film and will want to look it up. I have updated the cast list btw. Iamnoahflores (talk) 15:13, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I want to create the article about the 2021 film, Luca. If there is draft I can edit/help editing, let me know. Chucheraya20 (talk) 16:46, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I agree with you. The trailer has arrived, so this page has to be created right now. EverestMachine 4001 (talk) 19:15, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree, the movie has officially gone public so the article should be created. DrawWikiped (talk) 19:39, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There actually is a draft here. (Oinkers42) (talk) 20:15, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About editing this draft[edit]

I want this draft to be better than the current revision, please. 45.72.243.103 (talk) 13:19, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Then improve it whatever ways you can. (This is for anyone who sees this.) Georgia guy (talk) 15:54, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Should we publish now?[edit]

In the Disney investor day, they showed a bit of footage from the film, and even showed a sneak peak trailer privately (where the break ended up being for regular watchers). I think that shows it has already been filming. Iamnoahflores (talk) 21:26, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • IMDB says it's now in post production, so I agree with publishing. Keep in mind you can't "film" a computer animation so I assume it's OK to publish. Dominicmgm (talk) 14:51, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Where is the reliable source that says it is in post? IMDb cannot be used as citation. I haven't seen anything new since the Disney investor call... BOVINEBOY2008 01:34, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bovineboy2008, does this link work for you? Starzoner (talk) 14:26, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't a reliable source, but there are many better sources that have cited Empire's article, already included in the draft. —El Millo (talk) 15:44, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notes[edit]

I won't accept or decline this draft at this time. I nominated an article on the film for deletion in July 2020. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luca (2021 film). I !voted for deletion again in November 2020. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luca (2021 film) (2nd nomination). It does not appear to me that it satisfies film notability guidelines. The guideline on future films is sloppily written and causes controversy, but we can parse it as dividing films into three classes:

  • 1. Released, to theaters, direct-viewing, etc.
  • 2. In production, or completed production.
  • 3. Not yet filmed.

It is the second class that causes contention. There is a myth that films that have completed production are notable. That is not what the film notability guidelines say. The guideline says that films that are in production or have completed production are notable if production itself satisfies general notability.

Nothing in this draft says anything about notability of production of this unreleased film.

Some film actors, film directors, and film studios have entourages of fans who are ultras, like the ultras who follow certain association football teams. This film is being produced by Pixar, whose fans are ultras. Wikipedia should welcome ultras as editors, but should not allow them to ignore notability policies.

In my opinion, this draft does not satisfy film notability. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:29, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Luca" voice cast announced[edit]

The voice cast for Disney and Pixar's Luca finally revealed: https://collider.com/luca-pixar-villain-details-voice-cast-jacob-tremblay/

Jacob Tremblay ("Room") as Luca, Jack Dylan Grazer ("Shazam") as Alberto, Emma Berman as Giulia, Maya Rudolph & Jim Gaffigan as Luca's parents, Marco Barricelli as Massimo, Saverio Raimondo as the villain.

Maybe we can add this into the film's Wiki page.

Accepted article and merged talk pages[edit]

I've accepted this based on the existence of the new trailer and the Disney+ episode of Inside Pixar that details part of the production process. Anyone seeking deletion should go through AfD, as there is now new content that should be considered. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 03:40, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Luca's age[edit]

The director himself tweeted Age to me isn’t an exact thing with characters, I might have given both answers for Luca, 12 and 13. He’s around 12. and Luca ~12, Giulia ~13, Alberto ~14.. I don't think 2a02:c7f:a125:5a00:50d5:9b9:8616:adb (talk · contribs) knows the movie better than its own director, especially since they reverted (five times!) without giving any explanation.

The original edit from Ibrahim Muizzuddin (talk · contribs) that 2a02:c7f:a125:5a00:50d5:9b9:8616:adb changed later (again without any explanation) might be a compromise: Jacob Tremblay as Luca Paguro, a 12 or 13-year-old sea monster curious about the world above the sea.. --Thibaut (talk) 19:21, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No compromise necessary. If he's between 12-13 he hasn't turned 13 yet. He's 12. Keep it simple. EEBuchanan (talk) 19:49, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if my edits to the article (the hidden notes) seem egregious but this whole thing has gotten far out of hand. THe citation is there. If anyone has any objection it must be stated here but the back and forth editing of the ages needs to stop. If a consensus is reached here to change them, THEN we can change them. Plot premise in lead[edit]

The last half of the opening paragraph currently reads Set on the Italian Riviera, the film centers on Luca Paguro (Tremblay), a young sea monster boy with the ability to assume human form while on land, who explores the town of Portorosso with his new best friends, Alberto Scorfano (Dylan Grazer) and Giulia Marcovaldo (Berman), experiencing a life-changing summer adventure, but they have no choice when it seeks to threaten his true identity for secret led by Ercole Visconti (Raimondo), a bully served by his henchman Ciccio and Guido (Sohn and Crisci). Two issues: 1. this is one way too long sentence and 2. more importantly, the last part "but they have no choice when it seeks to threaten his true identity for secret led by Ercole Visconti (Raimondo)" just doesn't make any sense. Can anyone with better recollection of the plot and better writing skills than me try to fix this? Otherwise, just ending the plot summary after "life-changing summer adventure" should also work.
