Improvements needed[edit]

This is an encyclopedia article, not an alternative web site for its subject. As such, information about future performances, especially a year in advance is inappropriate and has been removed. Likewise, inline external links to music samples on a commerical site are inappropriate and have been removed. See WP:NOT. All other inline external links which verify performances have been replaced with footnotes per WP:CITE. All broken and out of date links have been removed. This article is also written in an overly promotional tone. It needs to be be re-written, expanded and referenced. At the moment it reads like a press release. Encyclopedic articles on singers should cover the following with references to reliable sources which are independent of its subject:

  • Family background/studies
  • Early career and significant breakthroughs
  • Mature career including major debuts
  • List of roles (not a list of every single performance)
  • Critical appreciation (with full sources)
  • Complete discography
  • Inline references (formatted as footnotes not as external links in the text of the article), sources, internal and external sources
  • Internal links to the relevant Wikipedia articles for the operas listed.

Removal of maintenance tags[edit]

Since User:Nu chto has reverted all changes to the article and removed the clean-up tags without addressing the issues or discussing them on the talk page, I am recording the problems here. I must add that I have heard Regazzo perform live and personally think he's a wonderful singer. He deserves something better than this.

Whether intentional or not, this article reads like a news release for the singer, not a biographical encyclopedia article. All of the references for "press" articles are from self-published web sites, and while they are complimentary about his performances (one of them especially so) not one of them explictly describes his voice as "sumptuous" or his colorarura technique as "virtuosic". Nor is it accurate to claim that these qualities are "frequently noted by the critical press" from a cherry picked selection of 6 reviews. If anything, such comments should go in a separate "Critical appreciation" section and be specifically referenced to the source, not simply "See press reviews". It is also inappropriate to list his entire future schedule. The performances belong in the article once they have actually taken place. Once again this makes the artcle look like a fansite for Regazzo, not an encyclopedia article. It actually does him a disservice.

It is inappropriate to link to music samples on the commercial web site of his record company (Naïve Records) 4 times in the article when there is already a link in the "External links" section to his page there which in turn has links to the available audio samples: Biography and music samples (Naïve Records) - in French It is also inappropriate to mix external links which are not used as references in the same section as references. They belong in a separate section. See Wikipedia:Layout. The overlinking to the record company contributes to the "advertising" tone in this article. Note also that the link to the Atlanta Symphony [1] leads to an empty page. Hardly surprising since the performance is not due to take place until February 2010.
