SOLT citations for London runs[edit]

I rather suspect that the necessary bit of the archived copy of the SOLT web page on London runs up to 2020 may be inaccessible if ever the original is taken offline, because the data is in a drop-down, which doesn't seem to drop in the Internet Archive copy. I have therefore extracted the following statements, verbatim:

  • The Mousetrap (running since 1952) – over 28,152 performances
  • Les Miserables (running since 1985) – over 14,156 performances
  • The Phantom of the Opera (running since 1986) – over 13,877 performances
  • The Woman in Black (running since 1989) – over 12,573 performances
  • Blood Brothers (1988 production, now closed) – 10,013 performances
  • Cats (1981 production, now closed) – 8949 performances
  • Mamma Mia! (running since 1999) – over 8750 performances
  • Disney’s The Lion King (running since 1999) – over 8506 performances

Putting this here in case the citations are queried at some point and cannot be retrieved online. Tim riley talk 18:52, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the SOLT page updates these figures about annually. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:43, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Chu Chin Chow and Salad Days[edit]

Is it worth adding that Chu Chin Chow held the London musical theatre record until Salad Days, 35 years later (you later note that The Mousetrap first exceeded its run)? -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:24, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is. Pray do. Tim riley talk 09:35, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done, though you may prefer another ref. BTW, note that some of the charts are chronological, while others are by decreasing number of performances. Is that intentional? -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:20, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is, though as they are sortable the reader can view them in either order. Tim riley talk 07:12, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:02, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subject matter for this article[edit]

This article is named "Long runs on the London stage, 1700–2020"

Thus there needs to be an article covering developments in the West End after this year as well.

I added a new section called "2021 and beyond". However, its content is off topic for this article. To send this signal, I added a {{main}} template so editors understand to put further content there, and only summarize it here.

I think this article should be called "Long runs on the London Stage since 1700" and just be updated as new records are broken. @User:Tim riley? -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:56, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
