“completely abstract”, “brandmark”, “ideograph”

  • This article: Ideographs, such as Chase Bank, are completely abstract forms
  • Another article: The Chase logo is a stylized representation of the primitive water pipes laid by the Manhattan Company

This is conflicting, isn't it? A completely abstract logo is e.g. the one for the Norwegian University of Science and Technology by Bruno Oldani. He has stated that the logo “contains no major symbolism” (in Norwegian).

Also, the term brandmark redirects here, but isn't mentioned. Should it be?

Finally, should the term ideograph, which is used, be defined or have a link elsewhere?
