New name[edit]

@Graeme Bartlett, Isambard Kingdom, Gorthian, and Tarl N.: Two names bandied about at the AFD for a new name for this page were Stellar explosion types and List of stellar explosion types. Oppose The new name seems unnecessarily verbose and constraining. Stellar explosions are the subject of substantial and respectable books such as this and so are a notable topic by that title. As these events have common characteristics, they should be discussed as a whole and so this should be a broad concept article rather than a plain list. Andrew D.
