Usefulness[edit]

This list is useless for a psychic. How do you apply to any of them? No links. Here is my psychic demonstration where I get 4 accurate answers using bibliomancy.

Scientific American, JREF and Australian Skeptics never reply to applications or enquiries. Please update with links to the application forms, I bet none of them pay!

This is readily falsifiable. For example, the JREF has a long list of applications and the process they've gone through (http://forums.randi.org/forumdisplay.php?f=43), and the application is easily found on their website (http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge/challenge-application.html). If you can't find it, you aren't looking.

DUH I WONDER WHY DERPDERP. Because it was fake and s/he knows it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.39.17.160 (talk) 10:34, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This list is deceptive by putting the field CLAIMED? in red.

You should add a column REPLIES? and note that none of these competitions acknowledge applications for offers by psychics to be tested. I have applied to all 26 prizes where an address could be found and none have replied. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.23.39.83 (talk) 09:42, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.iigwest.com/challenge.html $50K Please contact www.info@iigwest.com They test anyone serious enough to help design their own protocol. Clearly state what you can do under testable conditions and they will work with you. I have no idea where you are located and you may have to travel to the nearest IIG affiliate. I have to agree that this is total nonsense. I have personally contacted every single one of these institutions and you do not get a response from them. The one that did respond, they said because I was not an Australian resident, I could not compete for the prize. Personally, I practice telekinesis, 100% success rate because It's real. So, to me this seems like an attempt to discredit the paranormal more than anything. Why send out a challenge and then not respond? Doesn't make any sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.97.34.2 (talk) 22:25, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removed item from list[edit]

I have removed America's Psychic Challenge from the list because it does not appear to meet the criteria for inclusion. Specifically, the prize was awarded as part of a run-off competition in which contestants' abilities were implicitly presupposed rather than explicitly challenged by scientific rigor.   — C M B J   12:34, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2015[edit]

I am adding some references and doing a general cleanup of this page. Also adding contact information. Onlydemi (talk) 17:59, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bigfoot and ETs[edit]

Should the prize for Bigfoot really be on here? While finding an ape more closely related to humans than chimpanzees would be an amazing find, and especially surprising in the New World, I don't see what's paranormal about it. We can all agree that Bigfoot existed at some point after all. — DanielLC 08:08, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We absolutely don’t agree that Bigfoot existed in the past. However, I do think your point is correct. Cryptids are not paranormal. And neither would be extraterrestrials, so I am removing the prizes for proving those. RobP (talk) 19:06, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nobel Prize[edit]

Does the Nobel Prize qualify? You'd definitely win if you found something paranormal. You could also argue that it has been claimed. Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes for discovering elemental transmutation. — DanielLC 09:46, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Someone could argue that about Marie Curie. Someone could argue anything, no matter how ridiculous. Rp2006 (talk) 04:11, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Currency conversion[edit]

It occurs to me that in general currency values of different nations are not fixed with respect to one another. So how does the column in both tables "Equivalent in US dollars" make any sense? Rp2006 (talk) 16:04, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Status of $1M Challenge[edit]

I reverted the edit adding a citation for the termination of this prize (here) because the reference added says "We plan on continuing the Million Dollar Challenge as a means for educating the public about paranormal claims, but the process for consideration of claims has been changed effective September 1, 2015." This is NOT saying it has been terminated. See also here. Rp2006 (talk) 05:20, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
