Air traffic control towers?[edit]

The Control tower leads by saying that "A control tower, or more specifically an air traffic control tower, is the name of the airport building ..." suggesting that these towers are buildings. I would wager that most control towers are inhabited more frequently than my office, which would again suggest that they are not nonbuildings, so to speak. There are no sources for this article so not sure where to head next.

Thoughts, anyone? -Bigger digger (talk) 00:41, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nonbuilding structureList of nonbuilding structure types

  • Oppose – I think there's a valid topic at the present name, even though the article is little more than a list so far. Renaming it to be a list would just prevent it ever getting better Dicklyon (talk) 17:48, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

infrastructure[edit]

It seems that infrastructure such as roads, rail, pipelines, sewers etc., are not included. If anyone has a decent reference for this, could it be stated in the article? ghouston (talk) 03:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But then architectural structure claims to include infrastructure, and refers to this article for more detail. ghouston (talk) 03:41, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I should read "and/or part of infrastructure systems" as things like electricity pylons, and not roads. ghouston (talk) 03:58, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move? #2[edit]

"Non-building structure" seems preferable. ghouston (talk) 03:33, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nonbuilding structureList of non-building structure types – I’ve spent many hours searching, and I’m convinced it isn’t possible to write a proper, prosaic article on this subject based on RS. All RS discuss either give a dictionary definition, a list, or go extremely minute detail as to what “non-building structure” means as a term of art as part of a broader classification scheme; compare to the more lively semantic discussion at building. Comment: It isn't a list of non-building structures, it's a list of types of non-building structures. I would expect a page with that title to list specific structures (which is probably not feasible). If RS don't support this concept I might suggest outright deletion. Fair enough on the former part; I’ll use the title someone BOLDly moved the page to in 2018. I do think that this hypothetical list would past LISTN; there are many reliable (albeit usually primary or tertiary) sources that list example examples of what is categorized. as a non-building, even outside of a specific classification schema.
