Missed Battles[edit]

I am unsure of whether or not to include the Battle of the Yalu River (1894) or to include actions between battlecruisers such as the Battle of Dogger Bank or between battlecruisers and battleships of which there are at least 4 that i know of. I believe i might have missed some actions were muntineying forces engaged loyal ones in brazil and during world war one. If anyone finds an action i missed please include it.XavierGreen (talk) 01:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's also Battle of North Cape. I have a question though: shouldn't only the combatants who fielded battleships be listed in the infobox? The way it is right now, it sort of sounds like Poland deployed a battleship to hunt down Bismarck, for instance. Parsecboy (talk) 02:36, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The german vessel at north cape was a battlecruiser and not a battleship. If we include battlecruiser actions in the list then there are 4 or 5 other battles that should be included as well.XavierGreen (talk) 02:43, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia treats Scharnhorst as a battleship (see Scharnhorst class battleship), mainly because a wider slice of reliable sources does. Parsecboy (talk) 02:57, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about the Battle of the River Plate, Admiral Graf Spee?? British Victory? Tony S 212.139.236.42 (talk) 13:32, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at XavierGreen and Parsecboy's posts, it would seem logical to include battlecruisers in this table because:

1. Battlecruisers were of similar standing to battleships. e.g Hood was just as significant at Denmark Strait as the battleships.
2. Removes Scharnhorst category issue
3. The people who look up this article would (my opinion only) also be interested in battlecruiser actions.

What do people think? Bunya (talk) 02:17, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I've included the Battle of Dogger Bank (1915). I removed the First Sino-Japanese War actions because the Japanese ships were rated as cruisers (even though they still managed to kick the Chinese sailors' butts). Indy beetle (talk) 03:19, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Does the "action of Lofoten" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_off_Lofoten) not qualify for this list? While minor, Capital ships exchanged fire and hit one another. -Genuine question, don't want to add if wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.53.112 (talk) 12:55, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
