Pirates of the Caribbean not on this page???[edit]

Pirates of the Caribbean didn't originate in a film. It started as a Disney ride (in 1967), which was adapted into a film. It is on List of multimedia franchises originating in games, toys, and merchandise. BD2412 T 05:50, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DCEU and MCU should be removed from this article[edit]

They don't belong here, as these characters didn't make their first ever appearance on screen but in comic books that is the point of this article. Thus the including MCU and DCEU is misleading and confusing, DCEU and MCU are both sold to the public as comic book movies. They have never been sold to the public as just movies. Thus they are not comparable to say Star Wars or Indiana Jones for example which have always been sold as movies first. Another counter example of why DCEU and MCU don't belong here, is the fact that we are not including the Transformers films here since they they are based on Toys. Even if the films themselves have been bases for video games for example. So inclusion of DCEU and MCU Which are not their own completely independent media franchise as none of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman or Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, THor for example none of these were created originally for film but for comic book. While we might version of these characters created for film, that doesn't mean DCEU or MCU belongs here. In same manner we are not including James Bond here as Bond originated in literature while both screen versions (1st: Connery/Lazenby/Moore/Dalton/Brosnan or 2nd:Craig) of Bond's completely different from the Book Bond and both Screen version have inspired video games that have nothing to do with the books DoctorHver (talk) 20:06, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Originate, as in the first piece of media that is part of the franchise. The MCU began, or originated, with the Iron Man film in 2008. The character of Iron Man in the comics isn't part of the MCU, so how can we say that the MCU "originated" from the comics? Same thing with the DCEU. The Transformers and James Bond film franchises are not multimedia franchises, they're film franchises. InfiniteNexus (talk) 20:18, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly speaking, the Transformers started as toys and were then cartoons before becoming films. James Bond starte as a series of novels by Ian Fleming. BD2412 T 21:22, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Precisely my point, DoctorHver's argument that the MCU and DCEU should not be included here similar to Transformers films and James Bond films is unsound.
